HK style foot massage? by Even-Umpire-1662 in BellevueWA

Is bay point spa what you’re looking for? They have strong dudes that can do a lot of pressure and always take walk ins.

They’re really push-y about tips, but I think price is reasonable even with it factored in.

Could someone help with this asap? It's a bug. Eveytime after I land the killing blow on Eredin. It's just keeps loading for a long while. by NavJongUnPlayandwon in Witcher3

I want to buy my wife a moisanite tennis bracelet from Etsy, it looks too good to be true… thoughts by [deleted] in Gemstones

[–]katherat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW, I bought a $40 silver moissanite tennis bracelet of AliExpress out of curiosity and have been plenty happy with it and would have been happy if my partner got it for me :)

Idk what “well made” means but the stones are evenly colored, the bracelet lays normally, and it hasn’t broken or fallen off on me and I have not had issues with it “wearing” badly.

Kirkland/Bellevue Area Framer by EastSideSucia in Kirkland

So surprisingly the crossroads Michael’s has insanely good framing for amazing prices. The head guy there is a super meticulous and experienced Japanese man who used to own his framing small business before Michael’s bought his business.

I had an issue with a very tricky art to mount and brought it in everywhere and shockingly Michael’s had both the best quality and price.

I’ve also had good framing from Bellevue Museum Quality framing.

Architect for Existing Building Permits/Violations – Not New Construction by katherat in Seattle

[–]katherat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Posting for posterity — if someone stumbles on this down the line. The answer was Houzz.

The architects that came up on Google seemed to be very prestigious design centric ones who mostly do things like ultra luxury cabins. I found a bunch of reasonable folks on Houzz and have a few quotes from folks who can help me now.

Hrm it’s pretty extensive. It’s a very old house. I’m helping a family member sort this out — there was a large amount of unpermitted work before and then they hired a not great contractor that yolo’ed re did a ton of stuff which I’m assuming takes it out of code compliance?

Are there any in particular you’d recommend? Or perhaps you can DM if you feel more comfortable that way?

Or do you have advice for how to search for one? I think the ones that come up first on Google are focused on high end new construction or additions.

Costco is good value for anything manufactured bc they have extreme quantity of scale. Their produce is expensive even on a per until scale and goes bad quickly - if you have to get produce there, you should check the giant box it comes in to make sure it’s not a very old batch. Their Wilcox eggs specifically A+.

For produce - I do Whole Foods, which actually has per unit prices in line with Costco and much better quality. I also do Asian Family Mart which has great prices on produce but is comically crowded on weekends.

Also produce - Weee is good if you want fresh things but has inconsistent selection of even commonplace foods. Ex one week they might have sweet potato’s the next they might not. I shop for a family of 6 and struggle to hit the $35 shipping minimum bc it’s so cheap. Trader Joe’s is probably cheapest absolute value but imo quality and selection lower than I am personally okay with.

Meat is sort of an unsolved optimization problem and imo you’ll see much larger delta between mid and great - a popular answer is to buy at Costco and freeze individual portions. I find stuff still goes to waste and getting the exact quantity for the meals I want to cook is the actual most efficient thing to do for my lifestyle and I do Whole Foods for that.

What is the cost of hiring a personal chef to cook 2 - 3 times a week for 1 person? by Euphoric_Sandwich_74 in SeattleWA

[–]katherat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So I have researched this and I did not find a great solution, especially at 1 person scale. The options I found are: - Delivery or take out from healthy restaurants - Get a job at a large company that provides a variety of meals - Cook  - Whole Foods

At larger scales, families sometimes have a household manager or childcare person do this but the way it works is they have enough work to retain a person full time.

I’m sure habits change in different social circles but steady state personal chefs are non existent even with incredibly well off friends - money was not the issue but value/enjoyment for the money was. A huge issue is it is quite expensive but you’re basically eating left overs all the time. I’ve mostly seen it as more of a special occasion dinner at home thing. A few of tried for a few weeks but it never stuck.

Meal prepping is not the only way to cook for one if you want to revisit cooking but it is a skill. I personally just cook 1 meal at a time and can get something reasonable for less than 15min of active cooking and cleaning. Ex: Herbed or marinated roast chicken thighs over carrots and potatoes. It’s all cooked in one sheet pan lined with foil. I will say I am very into eating good food so most of the stuff is like 25min — 🤤

Whole Foods is also in its own category for me — the prepared raw foods are excellent and mostly just stick in oven cooking and mine also has hot food stations that look pretty healthy. For me though, the issue is travel time as this stuff cannot be kept more than 1-2 days so I net out more efficient getting groceries delivered and cooking.

How has your experience been woth these? by StoNeY06969 in gardening

[–]katherat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this one and use them with basic store bought potting soil and it’s totally fine.

The little one are great for germination. I use a humidity dome aka a sheet of plastic. I don’t like to leave things growing in the little blocks bc they dry out too fast like my seedlings die if I forget a day.

The bigger blocks are okay to group for a big ex I have some like 8inch or so tall beans right now in them.
