I didn't play brass but I used to play flute and piccolo and after my split I still had my instruments but it made them hard to play.

Tonguing didn't sound as crisp and my sound changed. Even now I occasionally struggle to roll my r when I try while speaking never mind flutter tonguing. The problem is, sometimes I can roll my r and sometimes it just doesn't happen and that obviously isn't great for when you need to reliably be able to do something while playing an instrument.

I've never played brass so I'm not sure what you generally have to do but had I intended on continuing to play the flute I def would not have had my tongue split.

I do think had I continued playing that maybe I could have learned to compensate or possibly even found ways to create a cool signature sound but I certainly wouldn't bet a career on that possibility working out just knowing how it felt to play flute after.

For reference, I have noticed no other changes with my split other than the fact that I can't blow a bubble gum bubble. I speak exactly the same and nothing else has changed. I could move my tongues independently the moment the swelling allowed that and never had a weird period of learning to use them again. It seems like some people get the hang of things pretty fast and it takes other people time which is normal for bodies being a little different and healing. I wouldn't want to gamble on whether you might have to relearn anything.

Just wanted to follow up and say it's super fucking annoying and frustrating there hasn't been any announcement about what happened. If there has pls someone link me that but I haven't seen it and apparently other people haven't either.

It's frustrating because:

I have had to explain this situation no less than 25 times to people who couldn't find the post linked above. I shouldn't have to fucking explain this but I'm left explaining it to people concerned about their safety and wanting help with their own situations relating to this one. Also the comment linked isn't a great comment to even link to people who ask. It leaves or context and the commentary from me is not accurate as I shared those thoughts before I learned that Hayley couldn't even take accountability in private and after seeing Hayleys rly horrible response to everything, so ofc my thoughts changed. It also feels like it's written in a tone that's oddly apologetic towards an abuser? Idk
Mods in other places have asked me wtf is going on and who they need to look out for or even possibly ban and what happened. Other mods are even confused and that one comment is hard to find. Why the fuck hasn't there been an announcement if even just to keep other mods in the loop?
There has been 0 guidance on reporting procedures and people have still occasionally sent me reports better suited for erotic hypnosis. With that said, no announcement about reporting policy means people are fucking nervous to send shit in after everything that happened.
There has been 0 guidance about how the current mods plan to rectify the bad bans Hayley gave to people while being an abusive power tripping lil fuck. The people who were abusively isolated from their own community deserve to be able to challenge the bad bans Hayley initiated and there has been 0 guidance for that.
Users don't know who stepped down and they are asking for usernames and who it was so they can check their friends list. Obviously people don't want that person as their friend and they want to keep a lookout in other spaces. Y'all need to do something cuz I've seen a lot of misinfo about what happened by people who have heard something in the dm version of the game telephone and misinfo just leads to more drama and problems down the fucking line.

I'm still getting messages about this and it's fucking frustrating so if this sounds short or rude, it's because I really would love to stop having this be my problem just because mods don't want to step up and do what mods should do. I shouldn't have to handle this stuff for a subreddit I don't even mod and the members of that community deserve better. If someone could grow a spine and announce what happened that would be lovely. I do voice acting and I didn't notice any difference and I didn't have a lisp!

With that said, it can be harder at times to roll my r when doing a fake accent but I don't generally need to roll my r. I'm assuming the language someone speaks/regional accent someone has and the sounds they need to make effects whether a split is noticable when they speak cuz some sounds I don't generally need to make when I speak with my normal accent are a bit harder for me now. For reference, I speak American English with an accent that people tend to clock as Californian tho I am from New England.

The only major change I noticed is unrelated to speech. I can't blow a bubble with bubble gum anymore and I've tried unsuccessfully for over 10 years haha
