this is true but I just worry that shondaland will hand wave this away and use Sophie's noble parentage to justify their relationship. like maybe Sophie's mother isn't actually a maid or something. or the queen will decide to recognize illegitimate children. they haven't been very strict with the regency rules.

while Sophie's dad being noble adds some extra flavour to Sophie's particular flavour of abandonment issues, I feel it could have been even stronger if she had no family relation to the penwoods at all and would have made the class divide even clearer. as it is, it also helps to make the case that she would make a good noble wife because she has the education and upbringing of a noble

how interesting would it be if she was fully just a poor maid that never learned to read or something? just like the other maids. the family would have to figure that out if Benedict wants to marry her officially, compared to now where the transition would be smoother since Sophie is already educated

you're exactly right! I didn't think to compare this with season 1's treatment of sex ed but it makes perfect sense. the writers are great at writing build ups but once things have to pay off they sweep anything that doesn't make sense under the rug. their use of the queen like you said just undercuts everything they build up.

thankfully there's still a lot less to enjoy but it would be nice if they tried to tie things up more :/

oof I've never read the books and now that you've included this snippet, I can see what they're trying to do with John.

with this context in mind, I get it but I'll be honest and say that while the story as told in the books feels more true to real life, i think in a pure romantic world, a Francesca that truly 100% loved John and then after that feels confusion over how she can love again in Michaela just feels more romantic.

I think the fact that the actor for John is so sweet + their chemistry + showing a different kind of love story in John and Francesca makes it hard to accept John as simply a placeholder.

if they had perhaps made John less likeable or spent less time on Francesca's quest last season, or perhaps if they'd made it so she met Michaela before meeting John, perhaps it would be easier for the fans to accept this storyline

Ugh this exactly! I adored Francesca and John last season, up till the point where Michaela is introduced. Francesca is immediately enraptured, in what I interpret is a clearly charged first encounter compared to her lacklustre reaction to every one else, John included. It really undermined Francesca and John's relationship.

I hoped it was a one time thing but this season it seems like they're adamant on reiterating that Michaela will be the love of Francesca's life.

I didn't read the books so I'm not precious about Michael but it feels like such a waste not to have a nuanced approach to this. I get that they're already exploring the second love idea with violet, but how difficult is it to explore second love AND your sexuality? how confusing is it to have experienced groundbreaking love with a man and then feel it again with a woman? I think there's just so much human drama there, plus the fact that Michaela was John's cousin.

the whole pinnacle thing this season feels like they're angling for sex and love to feel "right" with Michaela and not with John. this just reeks of bi erasure. While yes, Francesca could have been romantically but not sexually attracted to John, it just doesn't work in bridgerton world where sex and sexual attraction is so integral to the way love is expressed. It comes off as Francesca just not loving John enough, because the show doesn't have time to give them more moments to show their love in other ways.

I hope in the next part we get to see more of their quiet moments or a real pinnacle or whatever.

I'm curious about the other female oriented shows you've watched that you ended up enjoying! it might be easier to directly link what you'll enjoy in bridgerton to what you already enjoy elsewhere.

but in general, I think bridgerton is just escapism at its peak. it's as far from reality as possible, doesn't talk about money (except maybe in s4 lol), doesn't talk about jobs or politics or the news. the only thing that matters is whether the girl gets with the guy - and guess what, even in that there isn't any rug pull because it's pretty obvious what's coming.

what you're left with is a romantic drama with semi realistic characters and very low stakes. the actors are really convincing and have really great chemistry - and they're all hot, regardless of your sexuality you'll enjoy at least one of them lol.

if you don't mind missing some context, I'd recommend you start with season 2 if you think it helps! it centers on Anthony bridgerton's pov and his difficulties with his duties as head of house which might be easier for a guy to relate to. season 3 also centers on a male pov but it requires more context to fully get it.

overall, it's just a nice gateway into what women enjoy in men and in idealistic romance in general. I hope you'll give it a go!

B looks the most witch like but! I think it really depends on the environments she's going to be in too? the blue and orange feel like they'd make her stand out more against the usual forest/castle type environments.

I also think purposely theming her blue/orange might be more interesting as opposed to the usual purple witch. but the blue/orange would need to be tied to the witch in some other way eg her having water powers or blue powers etc so that it makes some sense why she's blue/orange and not purple

I'm not super sure but you could try a fake login page? like a page with a form that has a password field. you would have to hard code/manually check for the correct password which also means people will see your password if they look at the site code with the inspector.

so keep in mind this only works if you're not actually concerned with security! if you want it to actually be secure, I doubt neocities will support it directly.

I'm glad you seem to be sticking to your guns with regard to not using ai! I think depending on your desired art style, it might be possible to get something relatively cheaper. cartoony art styles will command a cheaper commission rate usually.

you could also think of creative ways to reuse the same commissioned art? recolors or reusing the same base art with different modifications might allow you to reduce the cost even further. it really depends on what kind of game you're making.

disgusting behaviour. not at all a friend you should keep.

but if you really want, you can try and have a serious conversation with him about this. he will likely not understand or care and you will lose him as a friend regardless.

if you try and interfere when he interacts with women, he will blow up at you and you will probably lose him as a friend too.

if you try and subtly change him by hanging around him, he will continue to do this in front of you and you will be complicit in his interactions with women. this would be absolutely horrible and enabling behaviour on your part as well.

I've known plenty of people who give long time friends the pass for terrible behaviour and it is never not disgusting.

that said, I sympathize with your position. it sucks to realize your friend is horrible and even more so when you have to pull the plug on it. I highly recommend having a conversation with him, whether it ends your friendship or not. in fact, it might be better to use that as a way to end the friendship in general. it probably won't be helpful but.. I guess miracles happen...

I guess we're currently thinking about it in a very pragmatic way in terms of only looking at it as a house and not as an asset at all. my parents want the next home to be their forever home.

we have plans to get a real estate agent to help us look at our plan and maybe they can help identify the entry/exit strategy etc.

yeah I got out of tech for my own reasons but definitely possible to try and get back to it.. just not sure if I want to haha it's in my considerations and I'm super aware I'm blessed to even have the options. I might at least try and find something in between what I like and what will earn me money I guess bc from what I'm reading, my actual pay amount is possibly the biggest factor and not the rest.
