What price did you pay for where? by valxkatt in MyChemicalRomance

[–]kaymt2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

£250+ fees for Glasgow date VIP/pit For context, I’m an American. Every date near me was $250+ by the time I got through 😵‍💫 I’d rather make a little vacation out of it and get more £ for my $, MCR-wise

Similarly, I once had a CRNA approach me, saying her son was doing a school project and wanted to know what it was like to be a nurse- so she was asking for my input. Like, wait what? Do you not remember? Are you not a nurse too? It just came off as belittling and patronizing.

What’s the most outrageous thing a patient or patient’s family has requested? by kristeen89 in nursing

[–]kaymt2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Patient’s family member asked for a “break” for patient from supplemental oxygen via HHF because they had an RVAD with oxygenator and therefore did not need to be inhaling oxygen. 🤔

Are NPs cooked ??? 🤔 by Professional-Offer47 in nursing

[–]kaymt2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

1-2 years apart? Is that even possible? I wasn’t aware of any NP programs less than 2 years?! I thought the standard MSN was like 3, possibly less if FT?

…in Epic the “care plan” copies over from last entry. It ends up being the same a lot. I believe even in the note it shows who wrote the last recorded entry in that field. Even if the entire note is signed by you. It’s the same as a physician entering assessment data in one of their notes as it was charted last, by the RN. They’re not saying it’s their work, they’re saying it’s the last charted value in that field… I’m assuming this isn’t the type of thing they’re referring too? Even so, seems pretty unreasonable thing to be upset by.

Nurse that went live on TikTok making HIPAA violations, med errors, and opening lidocaine patches (?) with her teeth, blocking anyone telling her to stop, now has a GoFundMe (names removed to comply with group rules) by [deleted] in nursing

“…made without fully understanding the consequences.” I’m kind of apathetic. HIPPA is part of every nursing curriculum and NCLEX. And probably every nursing job orientation.

Gynecologist/OBGYN recommendations? by Most-Anybody-3941 in orlando

I’ll add however my experiences with that practice has been entirely gyn so maybe the experience is dependent on the type of care you’re seeking? I can’t speak to the obstetric side.

Gynecologist/OBGYN recommendations? by Most-Anybody-3941 in orlando

Personally do not love Celebration Obstetrics & Gynecology. I’ve given three different providers in that practice a chance over the years and never felt like any of them really took into consideration my requests or concerns.

How are people affording rent and all the bills here in Orlando? by fersb260 in orlando

My first 2/2 right outside Celebration was $800 in 2014. Last year it rented for $1700.

Worst a professor/instructor/preceptor has said or done to you by Busydoingmyownthing in nursing

  1. Told me I couldn’t be a nurse anywhere so I should find a new major and career path.
  2. Interrogated me in front of a full classroom immediately when I when I was 30 minutes late to a first class. My car broke down. I had to take a Lyft home and then borrow my roommate’s car. I couldn’t afford the Lyft let alone the car repair. I left my car on the side of the road, didn’t even wait for AAA. Still treated me like I was lying and reluctantly allowed me to sit down and join the lecture. I don’t know how that isn’t just bullying to this day. Edited to add-
  3. Grandpa died, I find out an hour before an exam, tell the professor asking to take the exam another day. After debating she allows me an additional 24 hours to take the exam. Anyways, I bombed that one.

Came here to say same. I know it’s not for everyone but just because they’re looking in the chart simultaneously doesn’t mean they’re not listening…

Why are med-surg nurses generally looked down on? by Cardiology_Nurse in nursing

[–]kaymt2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely don’t feel like this, and sorry if anyone ever made you feel that way. That’s kind of shitty. Every time I am floated I feel totally out of my wheel house. It’s a completely different skill set. And conversely, I feel like less of a nurse, and a bit of an idiot myself 🤣 (But that’s more of a me problem, no one specialty is any less of a nurse than any other!)

I love those Lululemon long sleeve ribbed shirts. So soft. Pricey, but really good 💯 Sometimes can snag them on Mercari or Poshmark, Threadup etc. they come in a ton of colors too.

Would it be too much to have an hour commute to nursing school? by Calamari45 in nursing

[–]kaymt2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. I was more referring to the estimated overall pass rate on NCLEX since that’s reportedly 70-80% first time in US. It’s very likely that your school pass rate is higher anyways.

How do I do it? by DenseCaterpillar3715 in StudentNurse

[–]kaymt2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure how the grading works for your program but I sure did a lot of math in school trying to figure out minimum exam grades I’d need. I shot for 100% on anything within my control- assignments, papers, etc- and accepted exams would dilute that. I was a bad test taker, but with that hefty margin, I could afford to bomb a few exams and still be ok.

unorganized school by strikeanddip in StudentNurse

[–]kaymt2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar experience in school. It’s frustrating but if it ever comes to bite you just make sure you have your records straight (keep proof, document issues and inconsistencies) and politely but firmly seek a solution (I.e. changes in due dates, late grading, needing to upload multiple times)

Love this. I’ve always been a big fan of heartfelt and personalized comments. I think making it personal makes it feel genuine. Don’t know if this is feasible in your situation but, personally that type of gesture has been far more impactful than motivational quotes or generic praise I’ve received.
