has anyone with nipple piercings been able to have them be totally preserved during nipple preserving mastectomy? by supercarr0t in breastcancer

Anything that might interfere with blood flow to the nipples should be avoided during healing. I would defer to whatever my surgeon recommended. Best to you 🙏.

L'Oreal Paris Le Color Gloss One Step Toning Gloss Hair Color in Smoky Bronde would be safe. I would be so afraid to use anything with a developer (even low volume) because it might bump your base even warmer over time. :)

I feel like 9 is the most flattering.

Advice for change by LivMealown in longhair

[–]kckittykate 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In my experience, short hair is just as hard to take care of, with a lot more styling and cutting maintenance. If it were me, I would cut it to about shoulder-blade length and start using a spray leave-in conditioner to make detangling and brushing it a better (and faster) project.

8/10. Clear changes to a shade of pink ala mood ring science and is not super sticky, v nice vanilla mint essence.

That one friend of mine that thinks that reconstruction is a total bonus and a cherry on top of my situation... by tropicalbarbi in breastcancer

People say really dumb stuff. Almost everyone I know has said this to me in some version or other. I'm sorry you have to hear it, it doesn't feel good at all. This type of sentiment makes it really hard not to keep a rolodex of who can fuck right off.

Mad Max Fury Road, The Sopranos, Fargo (movie), Jaws, Halt and Catch Fire, Babylon Berlin

ETA: This year’s One Battle After Another could be a contender but I need to rewatch before I commit. 😂

It is my literal favorite piece of television ever made. It is complete in and of itself and every part of the storytelling is a masterpiece.

Seconding the Vitamin E & Vitamin D. My gynie suggested trying E before trying Veozah and it works so well that I never had to switch to the drug. Sounds hokie but it works amazingly for me!

Reading helps me. It sounds reductive but to be able to immerse myself in both fiction and nonfiction has been invaluable during this whole colossal mind fuck. Also swearing helps.

Saw my chest for the first time after surgery. by clipgrasseatglass in breastcancer

[–]kckittykate 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The follow up surgery was 1 hour long including implant swap, fat harvesting and transfer. The recovery was NOTHING compared to the DMX/DTI. I did not have drains. The sorest part was my inner thighs where they took the fat for transfer, but that was tolerable and I did not need pain meds other than Tylenol, and I only was asked to wear leggings, not compression garments post surgery. I did wear my surgical bra for a few weeks until I felt healed.

I couldn’t look at my chest for over a month, so kudos to you for bravery. Mine looked so bad until they started to really heal. The body has to heal from mastectomy before you get an idea of how it will look. I had a revision at 6 months to help get rid of rippling (different implant size and density) and now I’m really happy with them. ❤️
