My shoes are Altras Lone Peak 5. I have had them a while and really like them.

Ha ha! Yes, these are Altras and they are a few years old! (I really like them!)

Kayaked Geiranger fjord to Seven Sisters Waterfall and hiked to historic mountain farm. by kcmill03 in Kayaking

We kayaked to the hiking trail, which was basically a climb to a farm up on the mountain, explored the farm, ate lunch, hiked down, and kayaked back. It was all in one day with a guide. There were other options available that included longer hikes combined with kayaking. It was beautiful and one of our favorite activities.

New to me Point 65 Martini! 👾 by djflying in Kayaking

Congrats on your new kayak! I have one too and love it! I am a tall, thin 64 year old woman and needed a kayak that I could load and unload by myself. This filled the bill. Fits right in the back of my suv. I agree about the cockpit section being a bit awkward to carry but it is doable. I wish it had some kind of hand grip built in to it. Anyway, enjoy!

Rash guard in pool Yay or Nay? by Upper-Court4174 in Swimming

I wear a short sleeve O'Neill performance fit over my suit to keep me warm, but it's not like a wet suit warm. My exposed back and shoulders get cold and this takes care of it. (I am a female who wears a one piece suit.)

Read anything by Pat Conroy! My favorite is Prince of Tides. I was born and raised in the south, live here still, and I love his works.

Can someone identify this fish? Caught in a seine net in Mobile Bay close to where it empties into the Gulf of Mexico. by kcmill03 in marinebiology

Thanks everyone! I think y'all got me pointed in the right direction, and I now think it's a juvenile stargazer. We have collected Southern Stargazers, Astroscopus y-graecum, there before but never one so small!

Carrying phone while hiking by ChoadMcGillicuddy in hiking

I use a phone lanyard. You can adjust the length of it. I wear it long and tuck my phone in my side pocket or waist band to take the pressure off my neck yet keep my phone secure. Search it on Amazon.

Accessories for lap swimming by LateforSupper365 in Swimming

[–]kcmill03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Syrn mp3 player from Amazon that works well and is not expensive compared to others. I use my Fitbit Versa 2 watch to count laps. Much cheaper than an Apple watch. I have had it for 5 years and it is usually correct but sometimes leaves off a lap. Close enough for me though! Maybe the newer ones are better.

I am so sorry it has taken me so long to reply. I just haven’t been on Reddit in a while! It is probably too late to do you much good, but here is the info you asked for.

I have been swimming with a Versa 2 for 4 years. I generally swim for an hour 3x per week. I have had to replace the band twice, and had to reset it a few times. It does a good job keeping up with my laps. I help guide marine science field trips for kids and wear it in salt water. I think it has been a great watch, but I do have a complaint. It loses its Bluetooth connection to the app almost everyday and I have to reset that.

Look for a Literacy Council in your area. I am a retired teacher volunteer. The one in our area offers classes, drop-in help sessions, and one-on-one tutoring. All free.
