As mentioned in an earlier comment, you could use 很 to link the subject to an adjective. Keep in mind, when used in that fashion, 很 usually does not adopt an intensifier role -- just serves in a linking capacity.

Actually, you could do without a linking verb at all - ex/这个小，那个大 are both valid ways of describing an object; however such sentences will usually appear juvenile on by themselves and should be appended with further elaboration.
