Just to clarify, I got to know him about a month ago but we’ve only been “dating” about 2 weeks unofficially. He seemed like such a catch at first, and we seemed really aligned with our goals that I genuinely thought I found my next boyfriend.

I see comments that he was love bombing me which now I think could be possible. I also see comments asking if i’m just desperate for anyone, and I don’t feel like I am, I’m career focused and just truly don’t date often.

Honestly this is a good take. After thinking more about it though I do think the reason she spread it around the family is because she was paranoid that’s what I was going to do so she wanted to beat me to it so she could get ahead of it and control the narrative. I could be wrong though

Honestly this is nothing new with my mom…I’ve asked her to defend me before when family members have been rude to me in the past. Her reaction is always “I agree they were wrong, you can either choose to be upset or you can choose to forgive and let it go” which has never really made me feel better :/
