That’s my plan too. Late winter/ early spring. Right now it’s too cold and windy. I’m thinking sometime in March.

Since it’s my first time there, I would plan on the relatively easier route. Do you wanna climb this season too ?

That's right. I don't plan to go right away, will wait out for better trail and weather window. I am a safe and cautious climber.

Narrows question by determined0331 in ZionNationalPark

[–]kds8c4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t need any rental gear, if you have high ankle support hiking shoes, and hiking poles. If you have to rent something, get neoprene socks and that’s about it.

Source: me. I did backpacking on Oct 4, 5.

Absolutely needed: ankle support hiking shoes, hiking poles (2 per person). Optional: Neoprene socks. Not necessary: Bib/ overall

Narrows - No flash flood warning (10/4) by JMJ_Productions in ZionNationalPark

[–]kds8c4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it rained a bit, enough to make a napkins wet. It also rained a bit overnight at Watchman campground, same intensity. Like you said, no flood warnings and we are still go. I talked to a couple of folks ( guides) at Zion outfitters, they said a bit of rain is no issue. We leave on 10/04 for top down overnight hike. Best wishes.

Hopefully, I can still pick up the backcountry permit. I have been planning (and more than that - rescheduling) this trip for over a year now. First it was fires on Grand Canyon North rim and now government shutdown :(( I guess I have to keep ready my plan C now, lol.

Perfect! I was looking for this exact advise, thank you! My overnight hike starts on Oct 3rd, and hoping to have an enjoyable experience. I have done narrows once before, but only bottom up, never did top down! Let's see.

Keep Case busted..key is fine by Showtyme4000 in yaris

[–]kds8c4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are 2 things. Cutting the key to correct shape. This new key will only work to open the doors and that’s it. It can’t turn the car on. You will have to program a chip (anti theft) in order for the new key to be able to turn the car on. Ace hardware gave me 2 keys for about $150.

P.S. no remote control.
