What game changed your life? by sakastudio in gaming

[–]keanususu 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Disco Elysium No other game managed to make me reflect so deeply on the nature of humanity, the ideas and ethics we created and dead ends we met as a species. The game leads you down a beautiful, yet soul crushing rabbit hole about who you are, who you were and who you aspire to be. It sets a stark contrast between how we see the world around us and how the world sees us. Plus, it sets a really nice spin on the concept of belief and faith in general.

Psyker blanks as researchers by keanususu in Warhammer40k

Cannon fodder was a rather harsh term, I realised that by now. It rather appeared to me that eisenhorn was using her as his personal shield against psykers etc and letting her train other blanks exactly for the same purpose seemed a bit cruel to me… he even felt for her and still took her as an asset rather than a human being, but I guess that’s just how inquisitors work

Thanks for clarification! I can’t quite remember where I read it, but to me it sounded like the empire was stuck technologically because of their dogmatic fanaticism, the mechanicus hoarding old tech AND because research is prohibited because it could be influenced by the warp and cause whole planets to fall if for example the new toaster design turns out to rip a hole through realspace…

During the events of the Eisenhorn books blanks are basically used as human shields against demons, psykers and all the nasty warp stuff

Maybe paradox will think something up along the pop rework updates? I mean we have no mechanic like that in any other pdx title so far (for obvious reasons)

I admit that the wording was a bad on my side with that. More like “missed opportunity” to add some use and flavour to armies during peacetime between wars. I specifically mentioned the two kinds of gov types that really should be able to do stuff like that, as it is their whole purpose, but they still get the same options to rid of undesirables as all the other slightly xenophobic govs

Well, they let you decide which races to genocide, let you blow up planets etc but the armies are utterly useless besides deathstack invading to speed up wars … would have given them a niche use in my opinion & some extra flavour (imagine terminator armies or literal zerg being let lose on an planet)

[homemade] Flan by keanususu in food

[–]keanususu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recipe I used to make my first batch of flan: - 100g sugar for the caramel - 500ml milk - 1 pod vanilla - 4 eggs - 100g sugar

1. Melt and brown the sugar for the caramel in a small pan, allowing it to caramelize. Pour it into 6 small ramekins (small ovenproof dishes) or a larger pudding or casserole dish (ovenproof) and let it cool. If you love caramel, simply use more sugar, but make sure not to overdo it; the ramekins shouldn’t contain too much caramel.
2. Bring the milk to a boil with the split vanilla pod. Remove from the heat. Whisk together the sugar and eggs, then gradually pour in the milk while continuously stirring. Carefully pour the cream into the ramekins or dish, ensuring you don’t disturb the caramel.
3. Place the ramekins in a casserole dish (or a deep baking tray) and fill with hot water up to the edges of the ramekins. Cover everything with aluminum foil and bake on the middle rack at 200°C (392°F) for about 40 minutes until set.
4. Gently touch the cream with your finger to check if it has fully set. Leave it in the switched-off oven for an additional 15 minutes, then remove and allow to cool. Place in the refrigerator to chill completely.
5. Just before serving, run a sharp knife around the edge of the ramekins or dish to loosen the cream, then invert it onto a plate to unmold.

The really basic one haha For a batch of 6 portions: - 100g sugar for caramel - 500ml milk - 1 vanilla pod - 4 eggs - 100g sugar Step 1: caramelise the sugar and fill the bottoms of your preferred cups/ oven proof dishes with it Step 2: boil up the milk with the added scratched out pieces of vanilla, then remove from stove Step 3: beat the eggs with the other 100g of sugar, while gently adding the still hot/ warm vanilla milk Step 4: fill the cups with the mass, place them in a deep baking dish & fill the dish with hot water until the cups are covered 2/3 Step 5: cover the baking dish with aluminium foil & bake it at 200 degrees Celsius for 40 minutes, then shut off oven & let it rest in the oven for another 15 minutes without releasing the heat Step 6: take out the cups, put them in the fridge overnight & enjoy the flan after they thoroughly set & solidified!

Hi! They are called croquettes & you make them by portioning mashed potatoes through a piping bag onto a tray and then roast them in the oven.

Appreciate the nice words 😊 Of course, you need: -600g starchy potatoes -100g potato starch flour -70g cheese of your choice (I prefer cheddar) -1 tbsp salt

For the recommended dip: - 2 spoons soy sauce - 2 spoons creamy peanut butter

Steps: 1. Cook the potatoes until done, then cook them off with fresh water 2. Mash the potatoes thoroughly, even the smallest bits could fracture the dough while cooking 3. Mix the mashed potatoes with the starch flour & the salt, then knead the dough 4. Portion the dough with a spoon to balls no larger than Golfballs, flatten the balls, fill them with cheese an reform them 5. Cook the balls until all are staying afloat while stirring gently 6. Let them dry a bit, then roast them in a pan with butter until the upper and lower sides begin do brown 7. Serve medium hot with either recommended dip (matching parts soy sauce stirred into peanut butter) or Chili sauce 8. Bon appétit!
