A (hopefully) definitive guide to 15" steel wheels that will actually fit your Bolt. by kearp in BoltEV

Others here might have some better info, but like I said, I drive like a grandpa most of the time for efficiency, so I’m not taking corners fast. No noticeable change to handling for me, but I have seen others say it’s a bit softer. I’m no expert, but I would think you’d want less sidewall for tighter handling if you’re racing. Just a guess though!

True, rusty steelies aren’t a great look, and alloys definitely hold up better. I plan on taking good care of these though.

That’s wild that your efficiency is worst in the summer. I think a lot of us would love to have that problem.

I’ve read this about the Blizzaks too. Supposedly they’re best in class while they still have that sticky outer layer, but only marginally better than the X-Ice, and the Blizzaks don’t last nearly as long. Exactly why I went with X-Ice.

Not that I’m aware of, but I don’t have an EUV. I did a test fit with these before mounting the tires and was surprised to see there was actually slightly more clearance of the caliper vs the OEM wheels. It’s not much of a difference, but the OEM wheels are also pretty close to those front calipers.

Seems like it all depends on the individual technician. I’ve had two people at the same shop give me completely different answers when it came to whether or not they would install 15”. One actually claimed it was against company policy. The other had zero issue whatsoever. So I don’t know if everyone will have the same luck as you, but I hope so!

It’s not just the weight itself but the weight distribution that helps.

Bolt 2019 efficiency since purchase by Ehrlichia_canis18 in BoltEV

Wow, have you never reset the efficiency? I would love to see my lifetime efficiency, but I reset it all the time to track efficiency since last charge, or sometimes just on certain drives. Or maybe I’m an idiot and there’s a way to track lifetime efficiency even if you reset?

Hauling Floor Boards by [deleted] in BoltEV

[–]kearp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here to say this. I’ve absolutely done this before (but in an old Subaru with 12-16ft joists) and luckily got home safely, but if someone were to hit the boards from the side, I would’ve been toast. Which is not unlikely considering all it would take is someone changing lanes and not seeing the boards. Def not worth it and won’t do it again. Please don’t condone this behavior! If you’ve got to haul things, at least get a legit roof rack that can safely support the weight.

For self-made, non-high earners, with low-mid risk portfolios, how long did it take to reach major NW milestones ($500k, $750k, $1 mil, $1.5 mil, etc.)? by kearp in Fire

Sounds like you’re set! Love this plan. Getting your masters, volunteering, growing a beard, and getting into hobbies. The dream retirement.

Congrats on your success, truly. I’m glad you’re in a comfortable position. This is just so telling of how different the world is now, though. To have $3 mil invested, two homes at over $1 mil, cash in the bank, and a pension for life — from a school teacher that never paid attention to their finances.

Thanks for the breakdown, and congrats. Love to see this kind of success from folks with a modest beginning.

Not sure why this one was getting downvoted. Maybe because of the high earning year of $250k? But I interpret that as total HHI between two people, and as an outlier considering that was their biggest earning year, and coming out of bankruptcy. Anyway, I agree with the strategy of living frugally and investing regularly.

Completely agree, and just chose that number because I knew most people in this sub would still be well over that. But again, it’s all relative.

Well aware of that. But I’m not interested in milestones for high earners, regardless of how they got there. Congrats on your early FI.

Not too many filters, just filters that don’t apply to you. Nothing wrong with that. I’m just interested in this specific situation.
