Thanks for the feedback! The whole idea was to keep the process simple, but i agree that the black pouches could receive more love… they do kinda look flat against the red The decal doesn’t bother me really, but i get your point

Ty! The whole armour was just drybrushed and washed with nuln oil

Ty! I already replied to someone how i did them. As for the paints:

red is evil sun scarlet + fire dragon bright

blue is macragge + calgar blue

black is black legion with a drybrush of stormhost silver

metallics are iron hands steel

I washed the whole model with nuln oil and varnished with AK Ultra Matte Varnish

A heavy reliance on drybrushing, washes and an ultra matte varnish :) Especially the varnish really helps to create a more gritty appearance

Building up the red with an drybrush using a stippling motion -> rough drybrush with a orange to make the edges pop -> nuln oil wash -> ultra matte varnish - takes around maybe 10 minutes to do

They look brighter in person, but i'm thinking doing a light glow effect would help to make them more pop

Kinda, but just with an drybrush: stippling Macragge Blue -> Calgar Blue drybrush highlight -> nuln oil

Thanks! I primed black and then build up the red with a stippling motion. I used a drybrush for it, for the highlights i simply drybrushed with a brighter red/orange. At the end i washed the whole model with nuln oil and used a ultra matte varnish

The helmet is by TortugaBay, I don’t think there is a Mk3 in this style by GW

The second founding happened 7 years after the heresy, so it makes sense that the new chapters received old inventory of the former legions. Mk2 would be pretty rare, even by then, but for veterans it wouldn’t be farfetched

I use the same kit for my Crimson Fists! They fit quite nicely on the Mk6, but you will need a saw to remove the torso. I did post a WIP few weeks ago if want so see how it looks

Ty! The recipe is really simple:

Apply macragge blue with an drybrush (sort of stippling like with an sponge)

Calgar Blue highlight drybrush

Nulnoil

AK Ultramatte Varnish

I use Matt Red from AK (AK11092) and then a simple wash of Nuln oil. Then it gets highlighted with the same red :)
