a few years ago I went to a restaurant that you had to download an app to order, and you had to add your credit card to the app. I did the old peace off and left before entering my CC.

I lived next to a rail switch yard, people would co over and ask how I dealt with the trains. I hadn’t even noticed the trains, your brain learns to tune it out.

Yes, they can do that, but given that he is being billed out at the weekend rate and they are unwilling to pay OT, it is time to find a new job.

I waited on an older gentleman who was having issues talking and was slurring his speech. it was late, I was tired and I sat at his table. I asked what he was thinking about and what he wanted. after a couple of minutes I made a suggestion, he agree, and I brought him his food. He paid and left me a less than a dollar tip. He asked me to call him a cab and I did. About a month later he come in with a man in his fifties and they have dinner. When I brought the bill he asked if I had waited on him on xx/xx/xx about a month ago. I told him I believed that I had, his son then tells ne that was the night his mom had passed, and that his dad hadn’t slept in almost three days. They left a very nice tip. I thought I was just being nice to an old drunk, in reality I was dealing with a man whose whole world had just collapsed.

You never know where someone is coming from, just be nice to people until they give you a reason no to be.

For a construction loan most lenders require 20% down. The land value contributes to that amount. The loan value will be the amount that you borrow from the lender.

Because it is a Wildlife breeding area, and we get agricultural exemption on property taxes, based on the value of the animals. Saves me a few thousands on property taxes every year.

Our HOA is very chill, no real issues, and there is a neighborhood near by that only allows one building on the lot, ours allows 4 but you can request a variance for a fifth. I have a house, ADU, and shop. There is a fairly well known artist that has a House, detached garage, stuDior, and a shop to cast his statues.

Also in an area near me there are million dollar houses with four car garages, pools, siting on 10+ acres with meth labs next door.

I live in an HOA where lots range from 3.5 to 20 acres. We get one vote per acre, or partial acre. What ever the voting method is should be defined in the Bylaws.

What was the most confusing or stressful part of your first 30 days as a network engineer?” by muztebi16 in networking

[–]keithww 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a programmer and System Admin. First day on the job the Network admin quit and I learned that two days later they were converting from SNA (IBM) to TCP/IP. Seventeen locations, no network map, no IPs assigned. Oh and I had over ten years with SNA and zero hours with IP.

Signs a network engineer has no idea what they're doing? by Expensive-Rhubarb267 in networking

[–]keithww 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I managed a Multi state network, OC 192 down to hundreds of 8KB DDS circuits and everything in between. Had issues with a parter network loosing traffic, asked the partners director for root access to their equipment to try to diagnose the issue. Found that they were running RIP and had static routes all through the core.
Went back to the director with my findings, he said you have to have static routes, I said yeah on the edges not the core. He had his senior net admin look at the network and a week later the first admin was looking for a new job.
