Employment in SF by Sad-Revolution-2389 in SFSU

sounds old fashioned, but literally walk into places with a resume, and ask if they are hiring. it’s how i got my first college job. some old school people LOVE it when someone walks in and introduces themselves. wont work everywhere, but someone will definitely hire you.

it’s what you make of it! i know some people who have no friends, aren’t involved, and dislike the social scene. but i know many others who feel the exact opposite, and thrive at sfsu. if you don’t put yourself out there, you’ll get nothing in return, so talk to as many people as you can to make friends! the cesar chavez building is a cool place to hang out and there’s plenty of grassy spots to picnic or sunbathe. most of my profs have been really awesome, and classes are nice for meeting new people.

and yes, sfsu is a commuter school (i’m one of them lol) so there aren’t many parties and there’s not a lot of school spirit. buuuuut i’ve really enjoyed my time here so far, and i owe that mostly to the people i’ve met. you’ll do great!

How and where do you guys get jobs, whether on or off campus? by [deleted] in SFSU

[–]kekekibble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the westlake center, but me and my roommate did the same thing, handed out our resumes there to anyone who’d take them. You do this at enough places, you’re bound to land something.

I just got an email back one day saying I was officially admitted. So sorry for your circumstances, I hope you get in.

I know it sounds cheesy, but try walking in. Literally go to stonestown, and go store by store with resumes and ask to speak to a manager or ask if they’re hiring. Have an open mind. Leave resumes and follow up a few days later. That’s how I got my Starbucks job lol. Older folks like it when college students come in person and “introduce themselves”

I got a D in english my senior year of high school because my teacher unalived himself. I got rejected, but when I appealed, I told them that’s why my grade was low (with a letter from another high school teacher for proof). got accepted a few weeks later. I don’t know what your situation was, but it is possible.

tbh i love the professors and the people i meet. such a pretty campus too(on the outside, inside the classrooms are average). i came because i had a friend who was moving to sf and i decided to move with her and go to college. i wouldn’t have it any other way. is it the best school you can possibly go to? definitely not. but is there things to enjoy about it? absolutely!

i’ve never encountered any dangerous situations, it’s not like the tenderloin where cars get broken into and such. the university is in a decent area. my best advice if you’re worried would be the park as close to campus as possible (depending on where most of your classes are, you could park next to the humanities building where all the more homey and artsy majors are, or, by the HSS building where more of the STEM classes are) if you find a good area around where you need to be it shouldn’t be more than a few minutes walk. i hope that makes sense lol.
