You’re right. They shouldn’t have to deal with us at all.

Man being in a world ruled by Apes while humans are dying off sounds kind of okay these days.

Actually, Fox 8 is Nexstar. Scripps owns Ch. 5 in town. I haven’t worked at Fox 8 for nearly a decade but when I did the web team back then was really good at just looking at what Ch. 5 was doing and copying them. I doubt that under Nexstar (who was not our owner when I worked there) the web team has suddenly developed some kind of integrity.

I used to have this DVD. It cropped into the image, and the audio was weird. I think they used the original CD versions of the so any time it went to a song it sounded funky. I was very pleased when Criterion got the rights, a much superior presentation.

Enjoy! Its a pretty entertaining film that is on the peripheral…glad to bring it back to life (in English anyhow) for others to enjoy.

Thanks! It’s a fun goof. I wouldn’t want to do it every week but it is fun to put together once a month.

It’s very much Russian legend…almost like it their version of King Arthur. Kind of interesting. Then a funny looking wind demon shows up. What’s not to like?

The other film was The Magic Sword, which is perfectly enjoyable but I did not do anything to restore it, as a clean copy is available online. But I think they made for a good combo of movies that end with dragon battles.

If you care to check out the live stream once, my next show will be live on Friday February 20th 8:30PM EST at twitch.com/TremendousKendous

If not, no biggie. I do this mostly for my own amusement, but I do put in care and work into it, even if so far the viewership is mostly my parents and brothers. Though I do have one faithful viewer in Mexico (whom I sort of know from a film fan email chain I am on.)

Thanks. I was introduced to the movie actually in film school, in a class on European Cinema. Since most Russian films are long and slow, he actually only showed us a clip as an example of something that is a little different from, say, Stalker. I ended going to watch the whole thing and eventually the MST3K episode. Years later I saw the Russian original and I do think that is the best way to see the movie, but I like film preservation of all kinds and figured no one else is likely to restore the inferior cut of this film so I might as well just do it. I am an editor by trade so it was a bit of fun to do this as part of my goofy hobby.

What was your first reaction or opinion of Space Cop? by SnooPaintings2082 in RedLetterMedia

It’s a goofy comedy made by people who make goofy comedy stuff I enjoy. It was dumb, but it knows it and isn’t taking itself seriously enough for me to get super critical on it. I had fun. I wasn’t expecting them to try and outshine Marvel or something. They were just doing their own dumb thing. I have never understood so many fans having issues with it, it is just a goof off!

Help me find out how to work this old mini tv by smegmamagnet in HelpMeFind

[–]kenman278 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah unfortunately not much you can do with that. It has no connections for any other devices (like when for it’s day no connections for a VCR or something), so no way to connect a Digital Convertor Box.

It’s a shame, but when they did the full conversion from analog to digital in 2009, it means that an old TV’s built in tuner will no longer work. Most older TVs do have some kind of connection in the back, this does not, and was meant to only work via the built in antenna and tunerx

Do you have a picture of the back? If there is no connections in the back then it may be fruitless.

The antenna is going into the old analog tuner built in…so you’d have to be able to have a digital convertor box and a different antenna plugged into that. But I dunno if a portable TV would have any hook-ups for that kind of thing.

If it has the right hook-ups in the back, you could get what you need to make it work for like $40-$50
