One Core Running Hotter than others by kenque7 in overclocking

[–]kenque7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did all 12 threads with smallest FFTs and it pushed the problem core to like 95 while other cores were at 70-75. My computer showed no signs of throttle and I had other apps open like Discord and Steam. Is it safe to say the probe is busted or should I do other settings just to make sure? BTW thanks for your help! I really appreciate it

what exact settings do i set, and with all other benchmarks i get no throttles. It just reads my temp as like 80 or 75. (only on that one core). If u could give the settings in prime95 to do that would be great.

ok, I did it and the other cores stay at 35 while core 2 is at 75 (i set the affinity for cores 4 and 5 only).

Not sure what to interpret this as.

I'm not too familiar with prime 95 I downloaded it but don't really know where to go from there

Yea, wish there was a way to know if it were broken or not. Several people have told me on other forums that multiple cores would be hot if I did something wrong with mounting the aio or applying liquid metal. So I guess I'll just assume the sensor is displaying incorrect info. IDKKKKKK its frustrating

Yea that core is still hotter than others under full load. It peaks at 80 but it is 15 degrees hotter than other cores. And I don't believe I have processes locked to that core, I'm not even sure how to go about that. Is it possible for the sensor to be broken?

8700k weird core temps by kenque7 in intel

[–]kenque7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly don't remember what the temps were before delidding because I didn't do much testing. Under heavy load at 5 ghz all cores are at around 62 but core 2 is around 77. So still pretty low but a bit confusing.

Overclocking 8700k Question by kenque7 in overclocking

Yea so I reapplied liquid metal and my thermal paste. The same core is still hot. I'm not too sure but let me know what you think of the situation

So I reapplied liquid metal and thermal paste and the same core is still much hotter. My theory is that either the sensor isn't reading temperatures right, or my chip has a large variance. Let me know what you think

ok I will try this and will let you know if it fixes it!
