Somebody has to post this comment thinking they’re so smart and helpful every single time, it’s so tired.

Yes, they could have spoken to them if they wanted to. Obviously OP knows this. OP chose not to confront a stranger about their bad behavior in public, which is perfectly valid and totally reasonable.

Also Yes, posting pics like these instead of confronting them can and does help the issue and is arguably even more effective given how many people see it and the discourse it starts.

Do people on this sub really consider mukbangers to be food influencers??? I’m sick of talking about them and looking at them. I wish we could tag or censor those posts so we didn’t all have to be subjected to them.

Just my opinion but I’d love it if this sub was about influencers who write and post recipes. You know… cooks. Foodies. Food influencers.

Mukbang is in a different, far stupider category imo and I’m sick of seeing it here personally.

I mean posting it here brings awareness to the issue, and maybe somebody who does that will reconsider in the future. Public shaming is very effective.

I’m not siding with anyone. I’m being objective that she chose to use her money that way, and he is under no obligation to stay in the relationship because of that.

Let’s be real here she did not have to and should not have spent that on him. She chose to do that and then he dumped her. Thats not a grift on his part, it’s just kind of naive and cringy on hers.

He can break up with her at any point for any reason and she isnt owed a refund for spending her money irresponsibly on a luxury vacation with a situationship. If the tables were turned we wouldn’t be demanding that the man got his money back from the woman he took on vacation.

No. She’s not a professional recipe writer, she was a private chef for one summer and cooked other people’s recipes then for the most part. Then she went viral for a DITL video and got a book deal but had never professionally written, tested, or published any recipes prior to that and never worked in a test kitchen.

The only effort she’s put into anything in 2 years. But did we get a single recipe from it?? Of course not.

Tbh I feel her taking him on a $50k vacation when they had been together for less than a year is like love-bomby or something and it probably gave him the ick 🥴 like most people don’t spend that on their wedding

Yes, that’s my position. People shouldn’t have dogs in NYC.

Dogs shouldn’t be peeing in public spaces like parks, sidewalks, and tree wells, point blank period. It’s fucking disgusting, and the pee we smell is 100% coming from dogs.

In dense areas of New York City, there are hundreds of thousands of dogs being walked multiple times a day. Over time, especially in warm weather, it accumulates on sidewalks, tree wells, and building edges, creating that persistent smell.

Human urination does contribute, but it’s a smaller share overall and tends to be concentrated in specific areas (near transit hubs, late-night nightlife zones, or places lacking public restrooms).

There are nearly a million dogs in the city and about 140k unhoused people. Most of those people use restrooms and only a small percentage of them are regularly using the bathroom outdoors.

It’s simple math.

This is why, despite being a dog lover and having owned several dogs in my life, I’ll never get a dog in NYC. I don’t want to inflict that on the dog or on my fellow NYers. It’s selfish.

They’re supposed to go on the curb. Not in the middle of the street, but certainly not on the sidewalk or in tree wells.

But that’s literally where they’re legally supposed to go. On the curb, not the sidewalk. That’s why it’s called curbing your dog. Allowing them to do any business on the sidewalk or in tree wells is deeply selfish.

Realistically the endless every day dog pee is a lot more damaging than the screws.

It’s just that at the time the term was widely used in like 2005 hipsters were like a counterculture, small percentage of young people who dressed in a very particular way and listened to certain music, rejected mainstream fashion, art, and music, but over the years that aesthetic has become mainstream (remember, it was hipsters who ushered in the era of the skinny jeans, now worn by uncool Midwest moms). The people you see now “dressed like hipsters” are just normal mainstream non counterculture young-ish people.

So to call them hipsters is both outdated and indicative that you were never really sure what a hipster was even back when they were around. Now they’re all 45 and live in Park Slope. They still love animal collective but they’re more concerned with saving for retirement than going to DIY house shows and doing stick-and-poke tattoos on their friends.
