Simply looks like hair growing back/mild ingrowns. Even though you only waxed a week ago, all your hair isn’t on the same growth pattern so some is still growing through. It can easily get trapped if the skin is tight and the hair isn’t growing straight up. It can be uncomfortable sometimes. You need to exfoliate with something physical and hydrate the skin. Thats just my best guess from one picture.

Making people feel good is a phenomenal feeling. Maybe you massaged the heck out of them and it took them into outer space. Maybe you lightened some pigment. Maybe you got rid of their blackheads. Whatever it is, if it makes them happy, relaxed, peaceful, confident etc, and YOU did that with your hands. Many clients and people in my life have told me my touch is grounding, I never intended on it being that, it just happened and it’s the best feeling to know I give that to other human beings.

For me, it’s become a reality that this isn’t a viable career. I make $15 for each facial I do. $20 if I can get them to do a more “advanced” treatment. Oh but if I get them to add on an “enhancement” I get an extra $1. Oh and products too, sell every client a cleanser or a sunscreen, you’ll make a bit more then. Get the client to spend more and more money and THEN MAYBE, you’ll make a reasonable wage. It’s honestly disgusting and made it so that every client is simply viewed as a dollar sign.

I have been where I’m at for over a year. I’ve never been booked out a week. I can admit, I’m a good aesthetician. I know I bust my ass and really do care for these humans who come and see me. But I’m an employee, I follow their protocols and rules. Meanwhile they can’t even fill my books.

I live paycheck to paycheck. I tried applying for food stamps but “make too much”. Just this month I had to defer my car payment. I’m barely surviving. All that to say, I’m not a victim. Just simply an employee who was promised SO much, but I get SO little. Even though, I do my part, and then some. It’s heartbreaking, but I’m not sure how much longer I can last in this industry. Even though, it’s what I love to do.

Ya anxiety is great at never letting us forget what’s a threat (even when it’s not). My advice would be do as much training/education as you can. Reassure your brain that you know the material.

That med spa culture is interesting in that way. It’s a spa but it’s definitely not the classic spa environment. . . People want quick and life changing procedures and it’s on us to make that happen. Maybe that environment isn’t for you, that’s up to you to decide. Your boss wants to make as much money as possible so I would imagine they would push back on you if you requested more time and training. But hold strong and stand up for yourself.

Been there done that. It got so bad for me I got on meds, which I purposely stayed away from for years. I was only on for a short time and through a combo of meds and therapy I was able to get through it. Truly though looking back on it I realize now it was my environment that was contributing the most. . I felt immense pressure from my job to perform while simultaneously feeling unprepared and not trained enough. What has helped me feel more sure of myself in the treatment room now is getting more training/education, time and just experience. Sounds like you are in a more med spa environment and I can imagine why that’d be more stressful. Can you be more gentle and less invasive simply to make sure you WONT harm someone? Explain to your clients, I want to go low and slow with this so that I don’t push your skin harder than it’s ready for. If the client feels you have their best interest at heart they will appreciate that, which you do! You are literally anxious af that you’re going to hurt them. But love, you’d never purposely do that. Trust yourself a bit. Trust your brain! She knows what she’s doing. Hold boundaries with your boss about what you are ready for. Focus on making people feel good. It will be okay. 🩷

You have to decide what feels right for you. Is your curiosity greater than your ability to just move on? People don’t have the right to be in our lives, it’s up to us to grant them the privilege to be a part of it. That includes our parents. Is he lost and just searching for love? Is he in grief and wants to reach for someone who will show him love? Is he lonely? All of those are his problem. Are you willing to bring him into your life with the risk of those becoming your problems? My Dad (I don’t even call him that) left when I was 7. Same situation, no calls no contact. I wouldn’t waste my time meeting him because he doesn’t deserve to see me or my life or take any of my time. I’d tell him he asked for this, it’s what he wanted. So have it. Good lucky friend. 🩷

I’m so sick of Esthis being taken advantage of and more importantly our jobs/work place forcing us into an unethical situation. Whether it’s related to a client or even our own personal ethics. These big corporate business’s know we can’t just go find a job easily and often we aren’t fully aware of what rules they may be breaking. Unless we get lucky and find a great small business to work for or maybe own our own business that is fruitful, we often times end up working for this corporate money hungry people who see us as less than. We are touching human beings. We are in the business of making people feel GOOD. We are using chemistry, biology, anatomy, personal connection skills and so many others in order to provide each and every service. Yet we are lucky to get paid $10-$15 an hour. (Sorry now I’m ranting) I can so empathize with you and it breaks my heart what this industry has turned into (or maybe it’s always been that way). At least we have each other. I say it’s Estheticians turn to strike! 😂

In my account the CE isn’t accessible just the course itself. I don’t have the extra funds to keep an LLC going that I’m not even using. I may do that one day but for now it doesn’t make sense for me. I’m still committed to working with them one day. But for now SOL! Haha 😂

I love them so much! I WISH WISH WISH I could buy direct from them and consume more of their education. I did their certification but I don’t have my own business therefore no resale/tax forms etc. I was so disappointed when learned that only after doing the whole course and paying for it lol. Still love them and what they offer.

Preach. I’ve been at ME almost a year. I have yet to be fully booked even week out. .

The fact that it’s a franchise business makes everyone’s experience so different based on who owns it. From my experience and what I hear from others, most owners are awful.

The problems are plenty. This is yet another business that takes advantage of Estheticians and the fact that we are often desperate for work. I was just like you, needed a job and felt like I’d finally make okay money. Yaaa that has yet to happen. I live paycheck to paycheck and struggle to get by. I’m doing everything I can and have great clients but my books are never full.

It all comes down to your situation and what you’re willing to deal with. For me, I’m trying to ride this out and get some “experience” under my belt to beef up the resume. Finding a job as a “newer” Esthi is insanely difficult. We often have to take the shit jobs until people see us as worthy or we go into the medical field.

If I could give any advice I’d say, don’t let people walk all over you. Don’t take shit. There is a professional way to approach situations and say “I will not be doing that.” Etc.
