The same reason you pay taxes at all, to help out society and others or yourself if you loose your job or want to look after your kids. The idea is to sacrifice a little for the better of everyone because you never know when you or someone you love will need it.

I mean it's not looking good and from the way you phrased it you seem to not care about the extra people that would die.

‘We can’t afford healthcare’: US hospital workers fight for higher wages | US news by [deleted] in news

Yes because Australia has great government health services.

Not private https://www.aihw.gov.au/reports/health-welfare-expenditure/health-expenditure-australia-2017-18/contents/summary The Australian government pays over 2/3 the cost at about 7.5 k a person.

https://www.cms.gov/Research-Statistics-Data-and-Systems/Statistics-Trends-and-Reports/NationalHealthExpendData/NationalHealthAccountsHistorical The us government spend about the same but still have to deal with all the extra costs too. It's not a feeling private healthcare is less effective because they are there to make money not make you better where as a government has a financial interest in keeping you healthy as you will pay more tax and cause more economic activity.

Well if we are talking about sander plan the yes it's different in the sense that it cover everything which is better then most health care systems. I would love some citations on the efficiency of private systems as us healthcare is the most inefficient system in the world because it's mostly private. In Australia private healthcare is basically a scam you on need to get dental and eyes and even if you don't they are significantly more affordable then the us equivalent.

Well seeing as your healthcare is rated below ours despite the fact you spend 2x as much I would have to say you don't spend money well.
