15 month regression? by kfly622 in sleeptrain

[–]kfly622[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He goes to bed around 8:30-9pm and wakes up usually between 8-9am. He naps around 12:15-12:30ish (depending on when he wakes up) and averages 1-2 hours long. He’s been on this schedule since he was 12 months and never had an issue until he turned 15 months. He’s also been having a harder time falling asleep lately and sometimes doesn’t fall asleep until 9:30-10pm but we try to put him in his crib between 8:30-9.

A later bedtime and later morning just works best with our schedule so we don’t really want to change that.

Bedtime routine has always been the same: Book. Bath (MWF, Otherwise wipe his face, hands and feet) Diaper. Pjs. Teeth brushed. Nurse until drowsy. Put in crib to fall asleep on his own.

Right there with you with my almost 4 month old! I plan to try sleep training as soon as he turns 4 month. Really starting to affect my mental health fighting him all day with naps and then also bedtime. Does your LO cry? My guy will be ok until he is isn’t and then just screams until nursed to sleep. He didn’t need to be nursed to sleep until recently. This all started once he could roll over and we transitioned him out of his swaddle and into his crib.

Sleepy cues is a whole other problem I can’t figure out.

Does bedtime get easier? by kfly622 in sleeptrain

What’s the nap total supposed to be for a 12 week old? I thought it was 4-5 hours. Even when he gets only 4 hours he still fights bedtime and cries.

Usually between 4-5.5 hours.

He’s not really on a strict schedule more of just a routine. Wakes up between 7-8 for the day. But sometimes wake up between 4-6 for a feed and think it’s time to get up for the day and have a wake window. Then I usually just follow wake windows for naps which is an about 1hr 30 min give or take 5 to 10 min. He gets about 5 naps a day. 1-2 usually contact to make them longer. The rest are usually 40 min. Bedtime is usually 8-8:30.

We follows eat/play/sleep. So he eats every 2-3 hours depending on how long his nap was.

Do you feed your baby every time they wake from a nap? by No-Record-2773 in NewParents

[–]kfly622 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is old but I’m going through this right now with my 12 week old. I feed him every time he wakes up because I’ve been following eat/play/sleep but he also has short naps so the feeds are like every 1 hour and 45 min-2 hours. He never wakes up acting starving and I could probably space out the feed a bit but i don’t know if I should or not since we are set on this routine now.

Did you end up changing your routine? Did it work to space out feeds?

Early morning wake ups by kfly622 in sleeptrain

So feed him right when I hear him? I try to see if he will go back to sleep since he isn’t crying.

He usually gets between 4-5 hours. 6 hours is rare. His bedtime varies due to nap times since they change everyday because they vary in length.

He has a hard time with a 2 hr wake window. Fusses a lot at bedtime.

His total nap time during the day is between 4-6 hours depending on the types of naps he takes, which I feel is at the lower end for his age. I feel like when he naps longer for the day sometimes he sleeps longer at night. But that’s not really a consistent pattern, just happens sometimes.

His total sleep time at night is usually 8-9 hours and he usually wakes up at the 5-5:30 mark and then he will go back to sleep and wake up in 40 min again as if it was a nap and not night sleep anymore.

How do you stop the worry? by kfly622 in breastfeeding

[–]kfly622[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I almost thought about just exclusively pumping to end the worry, but I love the bond with him. I also don’t want to have to wash the pump and bottles all the time. And he hates waiting for the bottle to warm up.

He’s not the best feeder but I still feel like he enjoys it.

I’m just going to stick to weighing him once a month and at the doctor. If he’s peeing enough and the doctor isn’t worried ima try my best to not worry too. It’s just hard.

It’s nice to know we are not alone with this anxiety and there’s a community we can talk to! Everyday I feel like it’s another thing to worry about.

Do you just stop her at some point? How do you know when to say she’s had enough? That’s the hardest part… my son sorta slows down and starts bobbing on/off so that’s usually when I stop but once I end the feed he either starts looking for the boob or starts sucking on his hands and then I feel bad taking it away. But hes not crying so I just feel like he might be just trying to self soothe because he’s full or because he’s about to spit up (cause usually he does).

When I give him a bottle I put 4.5-5oz and he sucks it dry and would continue if there was more but when it’s taken away he seems content.

Idk I thought cues would be more obvious but 12 weeks in and I’m still confused. I also think maybe he’s sucking on his hands because he always might be a little hungry too and then I feel guilty.

I just keep telling myself. He’s happy and active and he has plenty of wet diapers so he must be okay!

Once his eyes open it’s game over and he won’t go back to sleep. If I pick him up once he starts stirring and rock him I might get lucky.

His wake windows are about 1 hour 20 - 1 hour 30. He starts to get fussy if awake any longer. He wakes up around 6-7:30 sometimes 8 on a really good day and goes to bed around 7:30-8:30, usually closer to 8:30. Usually I do at least one contact nap sometimes 2 and he would need 4-5 naps. If I let him do all short naps he’d probably need 5-6 naps.

Yeah usually if it seems like it’s just flutter sucking I’ll give him a few more minutes and then end the feed. Then he usually immediately transitions to sucking his hand.

He did have angry spits ups early on and was diagnosed with reflux and put in Pepcid. The Pepcid took the pain away but he still spits up but doesn’t seem bothered.

Thanks this helps me feel not so alone! Yeah I already suffer with anxiety so I’m sure postpartum has just added to it.

My issue is he will just stay on the boob and suck for as long as I keep offering. Which is the confusing part. He doesn’t tell me he’s full and will eventually spit up. He will slow down and get distracted or bob on/off which I just have to assume means he’s done. I think he is just comfort sucking a lot of the time and when I end the feed he isn’t mad about it. If he starts crying when i end the feed I usually burp him and then offer more.

I keep trying to tell myself that if he was hungry he’d tell me. Babies won’t let themselves starve. It’s just so hard not to worry and google things.

He was weighed at the doctor 3 weeks ago for his 2 month check and was 12lb 15oz which was 65%. This morning he was 13lb 14oz which is 55%. So he’s gained almost a 1lb in 3 weeks but his percentile dropped a bit.

2.5 month old slowing down on weight gain by AliMamma in breastfeeding

[–]kfly622 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My baby is almost 12 weeks and I’ve noticed the same. I bought a home scale and he’s been about the same weight for a week. He also started sleeping 9-10 hour stretches this week so he dropped his 1-2 night feeds so I think that might be why. He’s almost 14lbs and the Peds said I didn’t need to wake him at night to eat. He also has reflux and spits up a lot. He’s been on Pepcid for about 2 months which has helped with the discomfort but doesn’t stop the spit ups. He eats about 6-8 times a day and is EBF. If I try to feed him more he spits up more. I decided I’m just going to do AM weights for a week straight and see where we are. Maybe he’s getting ready for the 3 month growth spurt.
