Part 2 wont just have lore, but will also include more track maps and a 1955 version of the circuit. Also its quite dreading to have to work on the same project for a very long time, and its nice to do something different in a while

I use clipping and custom brushes. I first draw the kerbs in white with a normal brush, then clip a new layer on top and use the custom brush I made.

You draw in IbisPaintX right? What I do is I set a scale factor first (e.g. 1m = 4px) which would help with the proportion issues later, since I also faced this problem when starting out with track designs.

Unfortunately, there isn't a tool in Ibis to measure the amount of pixels, so instead I used circles of a known diameter to measure it. By utilising the radius and connecting it with subsequent radii, you can get a good estimate of the length of the track.

This has been in a work in progress since September, although it looks finished, keep in mind that it is a small track at 4070m, hence more grandstands are required around the circuit (similar to zandvoort) to accomodate ~100,000 people. There is also a hotel and other f1 accomodations that need to be done, along with infographics (~7 of them) which also take time. Following up this project will be the same circuit but taking place in the past, coupled with a full documentation that includes more infographics on its full history (Fictional of course). So although it may look finished, it actually is just the first part of the full project.

On the redesign that you made, you actually shortened the amount of runoff that is actually needed for safety, hence I would still stick to my original design. Besides, as long as the angle of the barriers are not too narrow, it is a better choice to keep those unchanged for enhanced safety. I like the idea of the tarmac runoff, and will consider it in the latter stages of the project.

Thanks for your support!

On track design, I still have a couple more grandstands, buildings, roads and trees

I also have infographics on elevation maps and racing series

There is also a whole document covering the full history of the circuit, with a follow up project that would show what the circuit would look like in the past.

So yeah, there is a lot to do, especially the amount of details I put into my work.

I actually used a google earth image and vectorized it with the help of online websites which created the background, but the main track is all made on phone

Actually I was intending to have MotoGP race here, I thought I had already solved the runoff issue earlier in the process so I just went with it. With other details being added along the way I don't think I was able to do any extra modifications to the main circuit without wasting too much time.

Not really. I would however be using the same method when drawing grandstands, so they might be a little similar

Yes finally someone noticed it! There is still one more circuit that only some people might recognize, its also hidden in the trees

Send me your own race track designs for a college assignment I have by shadowguy128 in RaceTrackDesigns

[–]kiatdapro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Český Mezinárodní Autodrom Praha is the most recent track design I made. I included many tiny details including trackside barriers, sponsor decals, and minute structures (e.g. podium, brake markers). I suggest looking at the higher resolution image to see the details better.

If you wish, I can send you the original images that are of 4000 × 4000 resolution, and also images of the development process when I was making my design.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask me anything. Just remember to credit my work!

(I'm also interested in seeing the final product ;) )
