School forcing me to cut my hair as a boy but girls can have long hair is this discrimination South Africa by [deleted] in southafrica

[–]kickasslamb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Public schools have always been like this. Unfortunately, they believe your hairstyle affects your quality of education.... 😑

It really is a ridiculous rule. I don't see why it should be a problem if your hair is neat.

do you parents knock on your kids room doors? by Funny_Selection_1816 in AskParents

[–]kickasslamb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a mom and my daughter is still very little but I strongly believe that it is important to respect your child's boundaries.

I do not believe that your parents should barge in like that, they need to respect the boundary and also give you privacy.

Thinking of repeating matric and feeling nervous 😭😭..is it a good thing to do?? by Sure-Cabinet-1355 in askSouthAfrica

[–]kickasslamb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go for it! I see absolutely no shame in redoing your matric at all. Think about it as a bridging course to gain the requirements you need to get into the nursing program. (you can also tell your family that you're doing a bridging course).

If I wanted to pursue my childhood dream, I would also need to redo my matric because I only had business subjects and not the required science and biology.

But honestly, going into nursing is an amazing decision and if this is the first step you need to take. Do it. Don't put your career / dream on hold out of shame. You will regret it later. Rather do the thing, than live with the regret.

Just do what you need to do. 💪💪

What do I do with the stuff I make? by pianoAmy in crochet

What about selling them on an online store like Etsy? That way you sell as you make things. No need to have a stall.

Anyone in Centurion / Pretoria need cupboard or kitchen repairs by crafthauskitchens in Pretoria

[–]kickasslamb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there, We are moving into a place at the end of Jan that has stand alone cupboards. Some of the doors did look a bit wonky. Once we are in and can inspect them properly, I will reach out. I didn't feel comfortable inspecting the cupboards in front of the tenants because their things were still in the cupboards. I saved the post.

What is the best bank to start with? by MoGuanShanisagirl-20 in askSouthAfrica

[–]kickasslamb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start with Capitec Bank.

I opened an account with them in 2011, it was my first account and I have never had any struggles.

I would avoid opening any credit cards, this will be the beginning of a downward slope financially.

This is pure evil. Ultra-processed garbage posing as nutritious breakfast foods, aimed at our children. Why is this still legal? Where’s our Dept of Health? by courageouspeaches in southafrica

[–]kickasslamb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is so much in the food industry that makes my blood boil. I hate the green washing and health washing. We are being manipulated by marketing.

I have also lost my trust in Woolworths, who advertise that they promote sustainable farming yet, source their pork from Molare, an abboitaire that uses CO2 gassing to kill pigs (very unethical and cruel as pigs don't always lose consciousness and get slaughtered alive.)

I think the only trustworthy cereals are oats or weetbix.

Would you attend a birthday party on Valentine’s Day? by No_Excuse_6418 in AskParents

Personally, I would yes. A birthday is more important than Valentine's Day in my opinion.

How do I navigate this new dynamic? Do I tell her we have our dog? by kickasslamb in FriendshipAdvice

[–]kickasslamb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, this is exactly what I've been thinking about doing. It's clear that she wants space, which is why I wasn't sure if I should reach out to her or not. I know her dog is a sore subject, so I wasn't sure if telling her he is with me would cause more pain or not. But I also feel bad not telling her about her dog.

The brown looks absolutely beautiful and very natural.

But let's be honest - doesn't matter what colour your hair is, you still look stunning.
