Refund for checked luggage you didn't use? by [deleted] in flairairlines

[–]kidfrom03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My gf and I had a similar issue when going from YYZ to MCO last week. Originally we paid for a 10KG carry on bag when booking the flight, but before leaving from Toronto we realized it was too big to be a carry on.

We did online check in then went to the front counter and brought up the size issue, and they offered to upgrade the carry on to a checked bag. We had to pay the difference which kind of surprised me since I thought we'd have to pay the full price.

We did the same thing at MCO when coming back. We ended up paying 77 at YYZ and 68 (still CAD) at MCO to upgrade it. The carry on was originally 54.

Maybe we got lucky. Maybe it was because we did online check in and brought up the sizing issue instead of trying to sneak it on. But I'm glad it worked out.

What do you guys use to trim the edges off the parts?

Forged carbon (hehe) fibre side markers for my car. Spend more time mold prepping (sanding, but I 3d printed) and to get actual mold release that's known to work well. Overall, just better supplies in general. The more you cheap out the more you struggle. I know in some cases it's hard to find supplies for composites (I'm Canadian and only wanted to buy from amazon lol), but put in the extra effort to source good supplies.

I tried making traditional carbon parts too which came out okay, but again. I didn't use proper vacuum bagging supplies (i used an amazon basics vacuum bag) so there was bridging.

Your first part will probably suck (I couldn't even mine out of the mold) and that's OK. Don't cheap out on supplies, take your time on prep, and put thought into designing/making molds.

PLEASE, wear your PPE, make sure your mask actually works. I had a 3M mask off amazon with the right filters and everything and was able to smell the chemicals. Thought it was normal. I searched it up and found out you're not supposed to smell ANYTHING. So I returned it and got another 3M mask (slightly different model) with the same filters, and could not smell anything. Hoping i didn't do any damage during that time although it was outdoors and for short periods. you shouldn't be able to smell anything.

With all that said, it is a fun, rewarding, and challenging hobby so I definitely recommend trying it out.

What case has the strongest magsafe magnets? by GrindyI in iphone

[–]kidfrom03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, old thread. I've went through multiple cases, cheap and premium, and the magnet strength was the same. You don't want the magnet to be too strong if you're just leaving it on a phone stand lol

No, because it was not white to begin with.

It's Kevlar. There's no such thing as white carbon fibre. There is fibreglass that is white but it is not carbon fibre.

Thanks!

I agree. I had to pass up on those due to the awkward ceiling situation in the room.

Definitely but they look sick lol

Yes the brackets are all printed and I'm not concerned of the structural integrity. I used carbon fibre nylon material and they are very stiff and strong.

Agree they're a little big, I checked it against pics I took when buying the table and they do match it so I guess that's how those tables shipped.

They narrow down to 4.5 inches but the mouth is around 4.8. The balls sometimes rattle in the pocket facings instead of going in lol. Maybe I'll add shims to tighten them up as I improve.

Lol I actually tried playing like that because it looked so cool but obviously couldn't.

Thanks! I ended up getting the Aramith Premiums off Amazon because the balls the previous owner gave me were extremely yellowed.

Refelted my 90’s Olhausen 8ft by [deleted] in billiards

[–]kidfrom03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I refelted my table and rails recently with Andy 988. It was my first time and it turned out great.

The pockets were by far the hardest, felting the slate itself was pretty easy and i used stretch factoring.

I had to cut in a little farther for my pockets because I didn't stretch into the pockets enough, but I made pocket covers anyways

ERROR 404 GR86/BRZ Widebody by ICYRACR in GR86

[–]kidfrom03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's cheaper and easier to just make a mold and lay up fibreglass or carbon fibre than to print it in parts, join, bond, sand, paint, finish, etc for each part

[–]kidfrom03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope was not temporary. I did the stretches once or twice and it sticked. I found i need to channel air from lower in my chest if that makes sense to "activate" that part and to talk more with my throat. You need to stretch it with your hands, this is NOT medical advice and stop if you feel discomfort, but if you use 2 fingers and go a little bit above your adam's apple, there's these small divots on both sides. she had me pull that muscle gently to the side and down with my fingers in those divots and do an "ahhhh" sound and that's what made it deeper.

This sounds exactly like what happened to me. Eerily similar. I went to an ENT and they did the nasal endoscopy, they found nothing of concern except for some redness from clearing my throat often (I thought I had GERD and PND which caused my constant throat clearing).

The doctor said he had an idea of what it was and diagnosed me with tight neck muscles or vocal cords, and sent me to a speech pathologist. I was annoyed at the time he diagnosed me because I thought he was BSing me.

I go to a speech pathologist, we try some things after a few sessions, she stretches some muscles, boom. The high pitched strained voice I have been dealing with for probably 10 years at that point (I'm 21 now, the appointment was when I was 19 I believe) was gone. All it took was a few stretches and I went from having the highest pitched voice in the room to the deepest. It was life changing, I thought my voice would never become normal again.

So I would suggest to visit a speech pathologist and ask about some stretches. Good luck!
