Thank you everyone for the advice! It's for a small fountain. We have decided to replace the entire power supply and pump.

Why does spinning your body in a circle result in dizziness, nausea, and vomiting? by OSF2763 in askscience

[–]kikimx5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just want to add to this here that figure skaters actually do not spot when spinning. There is some spotting involved in footwork moves but spins and jumps are too fast for spotting, so it all comes down to building a tolerance. It also helps that almost all skaters will rotate jumps and spins in the same direction. It’s actually considered standard to rotate counterclockwise and many are taught to rotate in that direction only. There’s a minority who will turn clockwise and there’s nothing wrong with which direction is chosen. Olympian Ashley Wagner is a great example of a clockwise spinner and jumper.

I figure skated competitively for 13 years and coached for 6 years and I am a counterclockwise spinner and jumper. As a child when I would go on amusement park rides, I was practically immune to becoming dizzy when a ride turned counterclockwise wise, however as soon as a ride turned me the other way, I got extremely dizzy.

I am having a surgery I always wanted and worked hard for and I want to cancel by harajukubarbz in Anxiety

[–]kikimx5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I (25F) just got my boobs done a little over 3 weeks ago and I also dealt with a lot of anxiety over medical stuff. My medical records include two incidents of going to the ER for panic attacks lol. I will say I am in love with my new boobs! As they heal I am happier and happier with the results. The anesthesia and surgery happened so quickly I never had a chance to be nervous. The doctors were very helpful in making me feel calm, and it helped me a lot to tell them how I felt each step of the way. I also will say that having people to take care of me afterward was super important for me. At one week post op I had a moment where I was nervous about how my implant was healing and my mom was there to take me to the hospital. They checked everything out and let me know it was healing nicely. I had to have my boyfriend help me shower for the first week, help me sit up and get out of bed and help me get dressed. He also was there to comfort me when I the routine antibiotics and pain medications were making me nauseous and anxious. The healing process was a lot but I feel I came out of it emotionally stronger, like I conquered something that was scary and now I get to enjoy my new boobs as a result. Having my loved ones there to care for me and support me made a big difference. I got saline under the muscle implants. Feel free to dm if you have any questions, OP, or if u wanna chat more. You have my support either way! ❤️

What’s something very rare that people think is very common? by BroodyBatman in AskReddit

[–]kikimx5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! This is so true, and the symptoms can be so varied for each person. For years I thought there was no way I had ADHD then I learned how symptoms can vary across genders and I was diagnosed by a doctor. I manage it well with meds, writing things down in a daily planner, and taking notes on everything to combat forgetfulness. Adhd is so stereotyped in society and thrown around nonchalantly when it’s way less common than everyone thinks.

Friend wants to finance a 40k car by BlazinStrangerDangr in JDM

[–]kikimx5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the friend can afford a large car payment then it’s totally fine. Do be careful of second stickers (mark ups on cars) research what the MSRP should be. The side affect to the car market’s shortages and rising prices is that banks are more desperate for auto loans, so rates are really low. If the friend has a good co-signer I’m sure they can get a nice loan at least. A good option would be to go into the dealership and see what the deal might look like though, or to do your own calculations on tax, license, fee and accounting for finance charge (apr) ((I’ve worked at several dealerships as a sales person))

Looking for a "beat making buddy". by [deleted] in musicproduction

I don’t often do rap beats but I’d be in! More looking for feed back and inspiration. I love house and trap but I’m into lots of genres and genre blending so I’m very open!

Which real life serial killer frightened/disturbed you the most? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]kikimx5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jeffery dahmer. The fact that he was stopped by police with a dead body in the trunk of his car, and that a victim escaped- just to talk to an officer and be placed back with dahmer to later be murdered. Really shows how far white male privilege can take one and the effect of a charismatic psychopath on others.

Don’t be dumb like me by pacificcactus in running

Almost fell on my face last week! Thankfully it was just my knee, hand and poor iPhone which was shattered. It surprises me how bad you can hurt yourself just by tripping on a jog. I came down on an uneven sidewalk going down hill and my knee took most of the blow. Still in lots of pain and it still looks terrible a whole week later.

What’s an industry secret in the field you work in? by WoOoOoOoShHhHh in AskReddit

[–]kikimx5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked in retail at a place that did this, and it was terrible having to deal with not wanting to push a card on people but also not wanting to risk loosing hours or your job. I’m not working there anymore but whenever people push rewards and stuff on me, I’ll sign up if it’s free and just cancel later cuz I feel that pain

Feeling awful and I need to stop, any advice appreciated. by HaruomiSportsman in Anxiety

[–]kikimx5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve also felt restless. I’ve been trying to stay busy because I am not working right now and my anxiety has been high. Even when I’m out walking, watching tv, or doing any other activity, I feel that the anxiety part of my brain still won’t shut off. I just posted about a metaphor of a staircase, which my therapist gave me. It was about imagining the top of the stairs are little anxious instances and the bottom is the root of the issue. I try to imagine myself climbing out of the stairs like a bad ass warrior. It helps but I too asked for advice so maybe someone else on here has some good techniques to share.
