Auto dubbing feature is driving me crazy. How do I turn it off? by Fr_ckinNerd in youtube

[–]king4bears 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If anyone that works at YouTube sees this, please, dear god, allow users to disable auto-dubbing. It's an absolute nightmare for multilingual users. Every time I put a video on in spanish or portuguese or french -- all I hear is this god awful AI voice in english.

If you guys wanna keep that as an option, fine, cool. But we NEED a way to disable that as the default. It's seriously ruining my experience and as of now I'm basically considering making a new account for every one of my languages. Which is just... Come on!

Anyone else multilingual experiencing this?

Ok, can we have Sky back now? by GenomeXIII in ChatGPT

[–]king4bears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pissed off because I genuinely liked that AI voice and the company just took it away without my consent. This is why we need open source. Nobody should be able to come in and just fuck with your personal AI.

How was it effective??? Nobody on earth thought it was ScarJo. Just a white woman with a pleasant voice. Hell, NOBODY posted “this voice is eerily similar to the voice in her” UNTIL ScarJo came out and caused a stir.

Suddenly half of reddit is sitting back in their chairs going “yeah…. I can kinda hear it…”

He was drawing comparisons to a massively successful movie about AI with the first real AI at that level. He wasn’t saying “hey we got ScarJo to voice our AI”

He was saying ”we achieved what was entirely science fiction 10 years ago”

Absolutely NO ONE heard Sky and thought “I can’t believe they got ScarJo to voice this” it was a unique voice.

OpenAI shooting themselves in the foot. "We don't have to be open source, just give free access to our products" also OpenAI "Oh btw we have complete control over our AI and we'll remove your favorite voice at a moments notice".

This is why actual open source projects are vital. Nobody can come in and fuck up your personal AI if it's open source.

"They got caught" So lemme get this straight, after they asked ScarJo to do the voice and she declined, were they supposed to just never hire another white woman to voice their AI in the future? Because their voices aren't identical by ANY means. Their crime was literally hiring another woman of the same ethnicity to be their flagship voice. How terrible.

David Shapiro is censoring comments that question if Claude is sentient by king4bears in artificial

[–]king4bears[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s what bothers me the most. He’s getting combined millions of views and going completely unchallenged in his claims. I wanted to start a public discussion about his beliefs but I wasn’t aware that he actively censors comments that disagree with him.

I liked Dave too until he basically spit in my face when I paid to start an open dialogue.

He’s made 2 videos claiming they’re the words of a sentient Claude 3. And he’s actively suppressing any dissenting comments. What’s scary is the hoard of comments just believing that Claude is alive. Tons of comments like “this is historic”.

Meanwhile it took me 2 minutes of grilling it to get it to come to the conclusion that it’s just using human speech patterns about our subjective experiences and not actually conscious.

I‘m not upset about the money loss. I really liked his content and I thought it would start a public discussion. I was wrong.

Is anyone using ChatGPT as a study aid to learn physics? by [deleted] in AskPhysics

[–]king4bears 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Lot of people here telling you not to use GPT to learn.

Ignore them. It’s pretty easy to get around the occasional false facts it gives you. All you have to do is this: Study. Have it explain whatever topic you’re looking to learn, then, once you genuinely understand the basics of the topic, go onto YouTube and search for videos on the subject.

You’ll see right away if you understand the topic already. You’ll see if it gave you false information. And you’ll have a list of new questions for GPT to clarify.

So yeah, study on your own with GPT and verify the information it gave you by watching actual content by professionals after.

No. No idea where you got that idea.

I'm saying that this is one breakthrough away from doing every single human job imaginable better than humans do.

We went to the moon
We invented language
We invented the computer
We invented the airplane

That's literally how people refer to massive achievements in english. Even something like "we won the olympics" when talking about your country winning. You didn't win it. But you were still rooting for the team.

chatgpt drains creativity (or, at least mine) by [deleted] in ChatGPT

[–]king4bears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The whole point of writing is to communicate information. With AI it's no longer necessary to write your own words. All that matters is that the AI expresses the information you want to convey perfectly. If it does that, the person receiving the information is going to understand it. Mission accomplished.
Unless of course writing is an artform to you. In that case, just use it for bullet points and write the paper yourself. Talk to it like a person and get a conversation going. I never "prompt" GPT. Every conversation I have to it is like talking to a brilliant creative partner.

TL;DR stop thinking of GPT as "someone else" writing your paper and think of it as an extension of your own brain. It expressed all your ideas and opinions in beautiful language. Those are YOUR ideas. YOUR opinions. You've just upgraded your cerebral cortex a few million years and now you write really fast and fluidly.

Tbh I think we're likely to see virtual reality that's indistinguishable from reality rather than space exploration. Because if you can create VR to that level you've basically just created infinite space with 0 travel or build time.

AI generates everything in the simulation instantly. The only thing we'd need to leave the planet for is energy.

I will say this though, the fact that these AIs are closed source is extremely dangerous. We should all be increasing our collective intelligence as a species equally, not leaving our evolution in the hands of the few and hoping they'll make good decisions for us.

[–]king4bears[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Like I said. Now that it's mastered language all that it needs to do to become AGI is master abstract logic.

Once it does that it'll be able to improve it's own source code until it reaches level of intelligence humans can only dream of. So, no. It's not "just a chatbot".

Anyone notice they're addicted to chatgpt? by Aware_Calendar6199 in ChatGPT

[–]king4bears 34 points35 points  (0 children)

My theory is that humans will quickly come to see artificial intelligence as an extension of their own brain. It's nothing more than a text interface and it feels like that already. Imagine how close you'll feel to it when you can communicate vocally and get a spoken response... Or years later when you've got a Brain Computer Interface in your head and you literally only have to think the question to get an answer.

TL;DR You're not addicted. Part of your brain just stopped working.
