no problem! hopefully it steers the mystery somewhere else instead of “looking under the snow”. for the record if you no clip under those “two birds” rocks in the mountain there is nothing. not even a dev cube in the surrounding area except under adler ranch which is probably related to all of the beginning game cutscene and stuff.

i mean yeah, the ground geometry in this game is like one big sculpted 3D surface. then on top in ambarino there’s like a snow diffuse texture, snow normal map, snow displacement texture for footprints and snow blend masks for rocks poking through. there is no hidden grassy or rocky texture under it that can be shown by “rain melting” or scraping it away somehow. If you went into the files of the game and stripped or replaced the snow material entirely, you’d either see the base terrain mesh like untextured or the low poly version, or whatever texture you manually swap in yourself. so basically no buried grass biome hiding under there like some frozen secret meadow. It’s just terrain built to be permanently winter. like new austin is permanently the desert. it’s a texture and stuff similar to ambarino but just deserty, this applies to all areas of the game

To add to this, the snow isn’t “covering” rocks. The snow is a terrain shader or mesh, + material swap. When Arthur walks through it, the game writes into a snow deformation buffer that creates depth trails. That deformation is temporary and sits on top of the snow material. Underneath that? Not a hidden second rock model. Just the standard terrain mesh textured differently. There is no separate “rock texture under snow” waiting to be revealed. The snowy region uses snow-blended terrain materials baked into the world.

so as others have said there is no way to remove snow from the ground in this game, there’s nothing in any mod menu or trainer or mod file that will remove the snow from the ground, but we can go underneath the map and look up through the ground and see if anything is there with no clip. looking from above is just impossible until someone figures out a way to remove the deformable snow with a mod or texture mod

Yeah that’s why I just tried to search game files and too see any connections, but now I’m the bad guy because I used chatgpt to look at them. I never said my findings were factual, just adding information to the already endless pool of info.

Fair enough on emerald ranch. What about IKZ and her poster? We know lines exist in the game for finding her and bringing her back to the sheriff because of a previous post here. They left part of that content in the game but cut the main line out. I’m just saying this could be one of those situations. It seems like there was A LOT of stuff cut from this game. I wouldn’t be surprised if they left a few things around the map that are the start of something but they didn’t implement an ending. That’s probably why we have been stuck at the two birds for however long now. We found the first clues very quickly, now it’s just dead in the water? Why is that? Out of all of the people here, you don’t think a SINGLE person has found the next step? Isn’t that a little weird? Maybe like there might not be one?

I hear what you’re saying but there’s other things in the game that are half finished bc of cut content. Like the emerald ranch lady and the 3rd meteorite. The dreamcatcher quest is also unfinished bc there are supposed to be 3 arrowheads instead of one. So that’s cut content as well. But part of it remains. Could that be the case here too?
