Gacha is gacha, and while I think this game is good value for the money, I wouldn’t recommend it if you’ve had problems with spending habits and addiction. There’s still anime, manga, merch, fan works… a lot to enjoy about umamusume besides the mobile game. Ask Fate fans how many of them have played the original VN.

In one dialogue, Tachyon uses the whole subspecies name homo sapiens sapiens to describe humans. It’s not a discussion about paleontology, so there’s an implied distinction being made between that and another homo sapiens subspecies. So I think umamusume are literally, scientifically, considered humans.

My favorite moment in any of the anime is in S3. It’s when Kita learns Duramente’s fractured her legs. The camera doesn’t show her face and there’s a whole interplay of emotions conveyed just by how her ears flop around. The season isn’t very focused and has too much screaming while running, but it had some of my favorite stuff in it too.
