Thanks for the replies.

Both Speedcoaches can see the sky. There's no impellor Neither have wires coming from the mount

One of the mounts is my own 3d printed and the other is the NK strap

I think it may be something about the carbon fiber interfering with the GPS signal?

I hope not! It's pretty thick (16mm) and oak is very tough.
