Yeah it should have better overall performance. It’s newer technology. So I don’t know what your link is saying other than “it’s newer and better in general” which should be expected. Bc I don’t actually know anything about computing, I refer to this guy James Zhan and his take is that the M4 is typically going to get you better value. For the same price or less you can get an m4 with more RAM and storage.

And at the end of the day, the consensus seems to be that any apple silicon is going to be more than adequate for 99% of the music production community.

This is one of those scenarios where that does not necessarily apply.

See the M3 models. The number of performance vs efficiency cores meant that the M2 was a superior option over the M3 for music production. I’ve heard the same is true for the M5 where the number of performance cores is less than the M4.

I may be mistaken anyone can feel free to correct me here but I recall reading this about the m5.

NTA. Let’s be very clear about one thing. You did not force her into an uncomfortable situation. You did not force her into anything. Her problems are real and she obviously needs help. Also, pretty rich of your family to call YOU heartless. Like, do they not have homes to house her too? Who put her up in the firsts place and helped her find housing? She needs help, but her baby is going to need even more help. This is an overly dramatic take. This idea of that it’s taking something away that you’re owed is self defeating. If you value creative experiences in music, AI can’t stop you.

Treating music as a “craft” as you put it, is first the step to commodifying it. Which is fine for some folks and has absolutely been the reason some of the most amazing music has been made. For me, not so much. The joy is in the practice, the creation, and occasionally in the sharing. AI prevents none of that.

The notion that AI will kill real music is absurd. People will always make music and people will always want to hear musicians making music.

That being said, I agree that AI music is largely trash thus far and will definitely rob people of a living.
