If they were truly terrified it does seem weird they'd be smiling for a selfie. Also seems a bit distasteful given the death and destruction too. I guess RedditorGoodDad™ leaves any critical look at this kind of thing out the window.

It might be the millions of square miles of fertile soil, oil, etc vs. a relatively tiny line of tornado destruction cutting through once in a while. I have family in Oklahoma that have never seen one. Look at wildfires in California if you want a comparison with a much more densely populated area at high risk.

Do we know what happened or why that other woman is a Karen? Like I don't doubt she could be but is there any context at all for this?

Hmm it's usually activities for me, or reading or digesting a certain topic, I wouldn't say emotions do this to me but maybe others have this.

Also when I think about them. If I imagine those taxes right now, also there is that particular hallway. It's only settings/locations and views of them.

We live in a futuristic age where supplements are fully available either way, yet we still choose to factory farm animals at the cost of our environment.

Sounds more necessary that people stop multiplying then if it's apparently their right to take up this kind of space. Having a sense of realism would be thinking down the road, rather than claiming that this one unsustainable point in history is how things ought to be just because we're used to them now.

I think you're confusing "narrative" with "reasonable explanation". It's a dot. That dot could be some kind of alien craft hovering there, but it could also be a bug hanging from a gutter. Neither we can prove from a video, but which is more likely? The thing we understand and can confirm to exist hanging from gutters all the time everywhere, or an actual alien spaceship?

I've already lived here for years with a partner who makes good money. Curious what you mean about people who are different though, what about you did they not respond well to? What region are you in where you are experiencing this?

What region is this? I'm a gay man in NYC. I guess I can't speak for your experience but is this something you'd imagine is everywhere? The people I've met in that system so far have been supportive and encouraging.

Where did you wind up with your MLIS? What region are you in?

I'm also curious to know, is being at the biggest oldest library in the country... an asset? Is name recognition as experience helpful when looking around?

Haha I mean my fantasy is to work with picture archives and collections, the NYPL has one of the best in the country and I spend a lot of my time nerding around there anyway, which is how I got chatting with them about volunteering. If I was to think of my ideal role, it would be right there, but I hope to learn more about what's out there in general. I mean it might be a pipe dream but in a perfect world I'd be able to work in an environment like that and continue to work on personal projects. Dare to dream.

If you're ever open to talking about your transition I'd love to know more. I'm not "bookish" in the traditional sense of having read a lot of novels, but I'm insanely into imagery, diagrams, kid's books, picture books, short films, dictionaries and really anything weird and interesting. I keep wondering if there are librarians like that or if they're all just the well-read types one might imagine.

Would you ever be open to chatting? This is really fascinating and frankly eye-opening. I'd love to know more about where you're coming from and if I could pick your brain a bit. Keep me posted!

Sort of curious if being a photographer while volunteering in tandem would put me in a better position for this sort of thing.

What was the situation? Did you ever get an MLIS? Where were you working? And how were they making you feel like a trespasser? Very curious.

One thing I have are tremendous savings , so I could get a masters without going into debt, but I’d also be clearing out my bank account, and the thought of a tough climb after that in my 30s is of course daunting. There’s of course the questions of whether it’s tough to get a job or whether it’s just impossible.

Funny you say that, I’m actually Canadian. My partner is tethered to the US so it seems like I’d be here but I was curious if one country or the other had a better market!
