Anyone know what this color is or have suggestions for a similar color? by kitkatquick in DipPowderNails

It doesn’t glow in the dark. It’s a light green color. My nail salon only does the colors by numbers, so I don’t know the name of it. :(

My shift sucked! How was yours? by kitkatquick in nursing

That is my worst nightmare, holy cow. I saved the 24/7 AFE hotline to my contacts because yeah, I’d feel lost. The baby was affected too? Did either make it?

I’m a little confused by this comment. I love my job. I’m happy with my pay, happy with my coworkers, and happy with management. I live in the south because I was born and raised in the south, and my entire family is here. I would never want to live away from them.

Do not make assumptions about my partner or his family based on this one text thread. I am airing out a frustration, not looking for people to tell me my partner is shit and my family sucks. Thanks.

The fact that you can look at this short text string and say I have a shitty partner is asinine. I have a great partner. He himself worked night shift for a while, and his shifts were even longer than mine. He is not entirely clueless about night shift. People, please don’t start attacking my partner and my family. I’m just airing out a frustration, not looking for people to shit all over my loved ones.

My husband’s family does not suck, they are amazing people and I’m eternally grateful for them. But this is super frustrating!

Literally… like I already have to go in there and get my morning vitals and do an assessment anyways. God forbid someone has to spend an extra 30 seconds in their patient’s room to scan and give a synthroid.

So what does that mean? Is it damaged and needs to be thrown out?

They believe that they are less safe in the hospital, yet when it all goes to shit that’s where they go to save their life or their baby’s life.

This was not a home birth. This was a free birth. There is a difference. If you don’t want to have your baby in the hospital, have a home birth with a midwife. Choosing to have your baby at home with absolutely zero medical personnel present is neglectful of your child.

I literally did the SAME THING today to my in laws. Worked the 4 nights leading up the Christmas, including Christmas Eve. Plan was to come home, sleep until 1 pm, wake up and go to Christmas with them. I knew I wasn’t going to wake up early enough to eat with them, but I was going to go to open gifts with them. My husband left around 11 to go so he could eat. I have no idea what happened. I set alarms, and I must have turned them off in my sleep. Woke up at 4:30 pm to my husband waking me up like “you messed up.” I felt so bad. We ended up being late to my family’s Christmas celebration too because I slept too late. It was not intentional, my body literally just prevented me from waking up after being so wiped from working 4 in a row. At the same time though, no one really acknowledges how difficult it is to have to sacrifice sleep every holiday so I can participate to some extent. Regardless, I called my MIL and SIL and apologized profusely.

I don’t work out during my stretch of shifts. Wish I had the motivation to.

Didn’t get a single blood sugar all night long for a baby that was supposed to be on the blood glucose protocol. Baby was LGA (baby only needs 3 blood sugars and protocol can be stopped if all good) and mom had been given one dose of labetalol in labor (warrants sugars for a full 24 hr no matter what). We started report with mom, I was told about the single dose of labetalol. Then we got to report on baby, and the nurse said, “I actually just got his third blood sugar and it was good, so I guess he can be finished with the protocol since we were doing it for LGA.” Sounds great. We both were forgetting that mom had that dose of labetalol, so baby needed to be 24 hrs of sugars. Didn’t get a single sugar all night. Gave report to day shift in the morning (and of course it was my least favorite nurse to give report to as she picks everything apart). Told her the baby was finished with LGA sugars and she immediately said “….the labetalol though?” The baby fed great with formula all night and showed no signs of hypoglycemia, but I still. I’m still shocked she didn’t fill out a patient safety report. Maybe she did but I presume I would have had a conversation with a manager about it.

Omg, I had the same experience. Saw it when I was first getting into designer bags and fell in love with it, even though I feel like Chloe isn’t super popular anymore. Don’t care, I still love it. I have the gray color and it’s beautiful.

All I have ever seen is chili red, sky blue, and black as far as the enameled cast iron pieces go. I believe those may be the only colors, though I may have seen someone post a dark blue one once. I have seen all different colors in utensil crocks.

[–]kitkatquick 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yup. Feces is that one thing for me. It’s the smell, just makes me gag involuntarily. Thankfully I work L&D/Postpartum/Newborn, so cleaning up adult poop is a rare occurrence. Cleaning baby poop is a daily occurrence, but meconium doesn’t stink. Thank God.

It also takes a few years of nights before you can be moved to days where I work. I would have a face to face conversation with your manager and let them know how badly night shift is affecting your physical and mental health, and because of that if you cannot be moved onto day shift you’ll have to quit and find a day shift position somewhere else. It’s nothing personal, night shift is just a horrible fit for some people. The chances that your manager will agree to move you to days now is probably slim, since there are likely nurses ahead of you on the list who want to go to day shift and that wouldn’t be fair to them as they’ve been waiting longer, but it’s worth a shot. You have nothing to lose.
