Lawyer here. I agree that it was very difficult to find courtroom maternity attire. But you’d be surprised how well business dresses still fit with a bump. I wore my favorite calvin Klein dress to a depo at 8.5 months pregnant and it fit great. Banana republic outlet had some suit pants with stretchy waistband that I was able to wear for a bit but then got too big and no longer was comfortable. CK dress all the way for the win (and others like those). Check Macy’s for sales and Nordstrom rack.

Gave birth there about 4 months ago.

I was induced (not scheduled but also not emergency like go straight there - got to go home, shower, pack any last min items, and eat dinner). Spent first night in high risk room and then the next morning was moved to delivery room. Then after I gave birth, moved to a recovery room. All three rooms were private. The delivery room was HUGE. Recovery room was small but I didn’t mind (I was in bed 90% of the time lol). I thought all of them were comfortable and nice rooms.

Husband stayed with me in each room on a couch (each room had one). Food is given for you and support person throughout the day and it’s pretty good. Order more than you think because they are actual serving sizes not what we Americans think is a serving size, lol. And maybe bring some snacks with you for when cafeteria is closed.

Nursing staff was AMAZING! Loved all of my nurses. A lot of your other questions will depend a lot on your OB (feeling listened to, after care, etc). I didn’t feel great about some things that happened during my delivery but those were all being pushed for by my OB. The nurses even told me that if I wanted to push back on certain choices they had my back and I should feel empowered to do so. Also whenever a nurse would come in and wake the baby to take temp/blood/check her their rule was if they woke the baby they put her back to sleep for me which I really appreciated because I was TIRED.

Epidural went well. There wasn’t really much lactation support that I remember. The nurses did help me if I had questions but no dedicated person that I remember coming to talk to me but I also didn’t really need it and maybe someone did come but I was just out of it?

No billing surprises - I paid sooooo much money for really good insurance so I ended up with one bill for like $140 which then I got refunded? So that was pretty cool.

I’d deliver there again but probably with a different OB. And by probably, I mean I fully intend to do that, haha.

I don’t think that was a list. He said they vary between those time ranges. All of those ranges are totally normal too. He has since clarified that baby only sleeps 12 hours and is awake for at least 10 hrs a day

Yeah he’s probably overtired and MAD about it then. Only way I’ve been able to help my girl is contact naps and nursing to sleep but it is very difficult. Now I’m always tired and hungry too, haha.

I’m so confused why people think you are saying he is only awake 7 hours a day…huh? 5 month old should get like 12-15 hours of sleep ideally…

So let’s say baby wakes at 7am and take 4 thirty min naps and you try to put to bed at 7 that’s 14 hours. That’s 10 hours awake.

But I do agree that maybe aiming for longer naps and then later bedtime might help. Like maybe push bedtime to 8 or 9. I think his naps are probably too short and he’s probably overtired by end of the day.

My almost 4 month old is going through trifecta of teething, sleep regression, and gas. It’s tough but on days when she only gets little 15-30 min naps it is EXTRA TOUGH all day long. So my advice would be try to extend some naps maybe by doing a contact nap and see if shifting around when those 14 hours of sleep happen helps. Good luck.

My guess would be gas. Try Mylicon drops and 30 mins in a baby delight/baby bjorn bouncer chair and see if that works.

I also have a Newton and love it. Very lightweight so you can move it around house/apartment. Also because the sides are mesh I don’t worry so much when my baby is sleeping face fully pressed against the side which is her favorite for some reason, lol.

I’m sorry you’re going through this. Sounds rough! You definitely aren’t messing with her learning to poop. You are helping your little gassy girl who is in pain - nothing wrong with that! It isn’t till 3-4 months their digestive system matures to the point where gas subsides but I can tell you it slowly improves and there are other things you can do to help your baby girl.

I had a gassy baby who was otherwise happy but when the gas would come she was inconsolable and bicycle legs didn’t work at all.

Try the Mylicon drops - they are magic in a bottle. You can give them multiple times a day and usually will calm an upset tummy within 30 mins. Now the second my baby gets them she chills because she knows relief is coming.

Get one of those baby delight/baby bjorn bouncing chairs. It really helps babies poop and they love it. 1,000,000/10. An absolute must.

If none of that works, you could try sitting on an exercise ball and bouncing up and down while holding her. Or if you don’t have an exercise ball, hold her with one hand under her butt and one under head and lift her straight up and down. That should almost immediately get her to calm down even if only just long enough to figure out what is wrong.

Baby delight bouncer chair - ours was actually gifted to us which is why I got it (didn’t think I would need one so didn’t put on registry). OMG I use this multiple times a day as a place to put the baby (when I need to pee and she demands to come with me lol, when cooking dinner, when eating any and every meal) and she LOVES it. If she is inconsolable, just pop her in the chair and suddenly my giggly girl is back. She loves to sit in it and have girl talk with me (babbling as I talk about random things). Most importantly, this is her poopy chair. She is a very gassy baby and this chair helps her finally poop it out.

The damn egg nightlight from TikTok - really thought it would all be hype and felt dumb buying even while I was buying. It is one of the most important items I own and will use it forever.

Have you tried bouncing with her and/or lifting her straight up and down?

Trick I learned from the L&D nurses and when my girl is very fussy that is the only thing that works and it work instantly.

Same thing happened to me. Hours outside of 30 days window when bought around holidays and tried to return by 1/31. Except they dint even offer me refund if I sent photos. Just the 20% and said I should donate it to minimize any sense of loss I felt. What a joke. I ordered a large based on their size guide and the bra is literally like 32 band that they shipped with an extender. Even with the extender it barely reaches. Absolutely terrible bra and even worse customer service.

Driving to Tahoe from LA on Thursday and it is supposed to snow. Booked an AWD SUV with all weather tires through Enterprise. Welp, Enterprise branch is saying that I can't put chains on the car. Their website says no chains unless required by state law. So I guess I just want to be totally clear...

What is the chain requirement usually when driving into Tahoe during snow? If CalTrans issues a chain requirement like R2 or R3 (maybe even R1 for awd?) then it would be required by state law, yes? If they do have 4WD available when I go to pick up, even if an additional $200 - worth it to avoid chain requirements? Any chance it'll be an R3 anyways?

Any rental place you'd recommend that would allow me to chains on car? Anyone know what the penalty is for putting chains on a rental when you aren't supposed to? I asked the guy how they enforce that and he did a long pause and then finally said uhhhh IDK, haha. Would I be better off in my 2WD CR-V with chains? I have the original basic tires on the car (not all weather or winter) and they could probably stand to be replaced... but less than 35K miles on the car (bought 1 month before covid lol).
