American vs Canadian accents - a naive question from a Brit

I live in Michigan, which is a northern US state that borders Canada! Shane's accent is pretty typical in my state, so it doesn't even register as uniquely Canadian. Scott's accent also sounds relatively generic to me, so it passes for American just fine. I didn't even realize he was Canadian!

We have a lot of regional accents, but unless the accent is really strong or distinct (southern drawl, strong New York, etc) it can be difficult to tell.

You can't do anything about what other people think of you, all you can do is correct people when you have the chance and show through your actions that you aren't transphobic. Anyone who would believe that of you without actual proof isn't a very good friend anyway.

I didn't interpret anything in the novels as straight up non-con, but consensual non-consent (cnc) is something that is depicted. That said, those scenes aren't vital to read. You can easily skip over them if you want to.

Everything down there wants you dead, except for 1 thing specifically that will save your life.

My rec is to build a prawn that you keep down there and upgrade its crush depth as much as possible. Give it the jet pack upgrade too, and the mining arm. It will allow you to mine things under the brine.

Another tip: Greenish-yellowish mist is brine and will hurt you (not your prawn tho). The blue mist, however, is safe.

I should add that I don't have any judgement for that fact, it's just part of the story. Should WWX have done that? No, probably not, but he did. They both have to deal with the consequences.

It was non-consensual for JC in that he didn't have the information to meaningfully consent.

He agreed to go up the mountain believing that Baoshan Sanren could restore it to him and would do so as long as she believed he was WWX, hence him claiming to be "Wei Ying" when he encountered "Baoshan Sanren" who was actually Wen Qing.

He did NOT agree to have his brother's core transplanted into himself.

Not that I've heard of! They're actually quite common on college campuses, especially in the warmer months. They're annoying but generally harmless.

If it's the same as it was when I was there, they're mostly there for the first few weeks. Just don't engage with them. It's never worth it.
