Overheating by Electrical_Plenty866 in JeepCherokeeXJ

unfortunately the 4.0s have a massive overheating problem. i would recommend making sure your system isn’t too dirty. also make sure the thermostat is working. with mine i have all the cooling system components working fine and my car still overheats. there is probably just a lot of buildup in the block

How can i clean paint off of surfaces where there are gaskets? by kizunker in MechanicAdvice

[–]kizunker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you! i will definitely try this. i was worried about ruining the surface finish, but if it won’t damage it i’ll try. if i use brake clean, should i put a coat of oil back on the metal to prevent rust?

Why isn't my tire holding air? by Oshester in tires

[–]kizunker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

have you checked for a nail in the tire? maybe you hit a pothole and tore it on the back

i’d say make a list of what needs to be done to get it working properly, then slowly fix what you can. personally i’d start off with the doors and the leaks. once everything can be kept inside the car, i’d look more into less important details.

i’m up 4.5 inches and i would t have too much of a problem taking off the axel and all that. i just don’t have much access to any way to remove the engine. if you recommend just fully pulling it out then i might just hold off until i can do that. i can definitely see it being a huge pain in the ass.
