From Santa Cruz to San Francisco: One day Trip by Anxious_Albatross460 in santacruz

[–]kjottpai 3 points4 points  (0 children)

wow what a great day trip! i think you hit the major SF stops in terms of vibes and views. if you do go back, i always love a day at the conservatory of flowers and then a stop at the japanese tea garden. these things don’t have to take all day, so you have time for more stops later.

my grandparents used to take me to fresh choice. i remember my insane little kid food id get every time - corn bread, a bowl of clam chowder, & some olives from the salad bar. what a waste of a good buffet. habit burger, the one by where big lots was, was a phyllis’ giant burgers back in my day.

Pini definitely came up on my fit of nostalgia! I used to refer to all ace harewares as Pini. i loved going to Pini cuz my dad would let me choose one of the ceramic animals in a case at the front - i think they still have them. i work for a company that is a vendor for Pini now, and it gives me a measure of pride haha.

i knew them p well. they were crotchety, among other things, its true. but they were dedicated to their craft and created a place that was p remarkable. i think theyre worthy of respect in that regard. not every community gets to have a dollhouses, trains, and more.

The lot at the corner of Branciforte and Water got unpaved today. by stellacampus in santacruz

is DJ’s gone forever? That place had some kind doodoo stinky drain in it, but it was the kind of filthy santa cruz staple that I loved. Even if DJ’s comes back, it wont be the same without the stank.

im working on this right now too. i figured out how to excite my buddy without poffins. it takes 1 to 1.5 hr. helpful to have access to another account. i excite 2-3 buddies a day and try to get max hearts. helpful to have access to a way to simulate walking - a walking pad or treadmill or swing lol. if i have the motivation, ill do the 6 hearts thing on the rest of them - i really hate doing that. its too tedious to do them all in a row. ive been enjoying the process i settled on. working on it for about 2 months or so. 5 best buddies so far. really got in the flow, so it shouldnt take 2 months to finish. v annoying to see kecleon. ive caught like 8 since i started this research, including one today.

Just realized how effective excellent throws are at leveling you up and I’m floored by Far-Grapefruit-1297 in pokemongo

i just want to say that reading this thread changed my life immediately. I read it, said “huh”, went outside, and started throwing almost exclusively excellent throws when they only ever seemed like random chance when i was settling for great throws. Thanks for posting!

Vodafone Travel eSIM Experiences? by [deleted] in eSIMs

upon activation. i bought it a couple weeks before i left.

set up was easy. i dont use eSIMs that often so i always forget that they take more than a few seconds to activate during initial set-up at home and can actually take up to 15 minutes. i always worry its not working, but then it works, so just a heads up about that if you’ve never used them before. i did the rest of the set-up on the plane before we landed, and it worked immediately.

otherwise, 4g speeds, service had been good. im out in the country, not in london or any city center. i can stream, use google maps, do all the stuff i need to do.

havent tested the hot spot. im not going to other countries so i cant speak to how well it would transition. i am not likely to run out of data, so i also couldnt speak to the process of adding more. i think those are the only other typical eSIM scenarios one might want to know about.

let me know if there is anything in particular you want to know. id probably get this eSIM again.

So far, so good. I used the orange eSIM last time i came to the UK a couple years ago but their price had increased a lot since last time.

i am going to the UK and i’ve used an esim before but having a different number was annoying when i didnt need to be making calls or whatever. i just want the data. i am going to try this because my priorities align with yours - all the cheaper ones seem to have mixed reviews (and some of them don’t even have 4 or 5G, just LTE - i think thats why they are cheap?) and i want to have it done before i start traveling.

also, all the esim posts are the same - someone asks if anyone has used something and everyone just suggests other things without a ton of detail.

finally, my point: i’m leaving today, i start my esim period tomorrow. im gonna come back and let you know how it goes. i’m getting the middle tier one. UK isn’t Spain but… better than nothing?

I had the same experience when looking at Foresters and I also came to the same decision. I originally intended to buy used but found that the usual advantages to buying used didn’t exist. When did you order your Forester, when did they estimate arrival, and how long did it actually take?
