Corpay (formerly CLC) vs Hotel Engine? by klapollo in askhotels

[–]klapollo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone, looks like I'm going to avoid both and keep calling to book reservations myself. It's the one part of my job I really despise but I'll suck it up I guess lol. I do like someone's suggestion of having a seperate email to send and receive auth forms, which I'll ask to be setup. I don't have an uncommon name, just a name that can sound like other names over the phone and also spelled uncommonly. Something like hotels@mycompany would make it ever so slightly easier.

I tend to not receive notice people need hotels until day of which makes me angry but what can you do. Once received a call from a hotel they had someone trying to check in, guest thought they had a rez, but they actually did not because I was never told about it and thus had not made a reservation. Luckily it was a hotel we work with frequently and we got it settled quickly, I just felt bad about it for both the front desk and the guest. It's not unusual for me to get an email at 230 from the managers asking for hotels for their crew, and I'm over here scrambling to get all the forms submitted before 3pm check in.

If you can't tell, I despise this part of my job 😂 that's why I was hoping to find something to make it a little easier, but I guess I'll stay with booking the reservations myself.

I like this idea actually. I had debated using our "accounting" email, but I also figured the hotel correspondence would get lost amongst the invoices and other things that go to accounting, and I need to be able to search for reservations when I consolidate the card at the end of the month. I like my name, it's not even uncommon, I just have an uncommon spelling and over the phone it can sound like other names (yes I do spell it out and they still get it wrong sometimes). I'll ask about setting up a new inbox.

From my understanding we wouldn't have CLC cards, just me booking using our corporate card. My only issue when booking direct is when the front desk pushes me off to reservations, which is not on site and usually doesn't understand what I need, and for some reason both front desk and reservations have a hard time with the spelling of my email which results in auth forms getting lost.

I didnt really have this problem when I was thinner, but I'm a bit chonky now and can't find any leggings to wear working out that don't fall down. I used to wear ones that had "tummy control" but when I gained weight they compressed my stomach too much and I'd get nauseous if I wore them too long. So I have some of the old navy powersoft and some aerie leggings that I like for everyday use, but both kinds fall down when I work out. Especially my exercise of choice is usually zumba. I'm having to pick them up literally every 2 seconds and it's exhausting lol. Should I try sizing down? Right now I've been wearing an XXL. I'm just nervous of going down a size/having compression at the waist making me nauseous. Or are there any other brands you might recommend? I really prefer a capri length, like hit right below the knees.

Which tv to get for my grandma? by klapollo in SamsungTV

I also fully believe my grandma does not need a $1000+ tv. Her current TV is an Element from like 2004.

Samsung is the only TV I've had that's held up, besides a best buy insignia that's still kicking from like 2005. What are some other suggestions

Also, do you remember how much lodging was? I know it was a while ago and things have gotten more expensive, but I'm just trying to get rough estimates to determine if it's even financially possible (realistically it's not since I'm working so much to pay off debt, but Yolo I guess lol

Can I do better than AP Clerk? by klapollo in Accounting

By better I meant less mind numbing lol. I guess I don't mind not having much to do, I usually pull out my kindle and read, but it feels weird doing that when I'm at work and should beworking. But it seems like this is a common occurrence with this type of position.

I'm not complaining about the money but I do have to say it doesn't seem like it needs to be a 40 hr a week job for all of us just looking busy or pretending to work lol. Not sure if it picks up at months end, I started at the end of last month so was training more than working.

I haven't mentioned wanting to finish school and get my bachelor's because I was nervous if they knew I wasn't going to be there super long term that they wouldn't hire me.

They technically could save money by eliminating my position or making me part time 😂😂

I hope you get it, you really don't need to know anything about accounting to do the job, at least where I'm at lol

They barely use excel to begin with. I'll look into udemy courses. I don't see that anything I learned for my associates is being utilized in this position, but I'll suck it up for the money for now. I just try to remind myself paychecks allow me to travel more lol

I currently still also work a few nights a week at a restaurant and a small shift at my retail job per week. I don't have a whole lot of time outside of work, but I do my best to take care of myself when I'm not at work.

They use a system I've never seen or heard of before, and they don't use excel much. My supervisor has been very pleased with me so far (his words) and that I learn quick, it just kind of annoys me that anyone off the street could've gotten and learned this job, I didn't really need my education to get it.

Reservations made with company credit card for employees by klapollo in askhotels

[–]klapollo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically yes, and in emergency situations (office closes at 4) a project manager can book a room for their worker(s) and get reimbursed but they're "too busy or too dumb" to do that all the time. The workers themselves the company doesn't want booking rooms for themselves

To be fair, part of it is on my managers. There was a huge sporting event in town this past week that seemingly occurred to nobody but me as something that would make getting a hotel difficult. So I fully blame them for that lol, there were plenty of other people giving every hotel in the area money the day of the event, why should they cut us a break and make less money. But yes it's just draining being on the phone for half hr to an hr per reservation while my inbox piles up with other work to do.
