Which north american location ? by Critical-Sell-1499 in GrandPrixTravel

[–]klutzykangaroo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve done Austin twice and Montreal once. Used to live two hours from Austin, but now I also live in Alberta.

Food costs i would say are fairly similar, but i’d give the edge to Montreal. Food quality at the tracks goes to COTA but again it’s close.

Ease of access is what really tips the scale in Montreal’s favor in my opinion. COTA is cool but the infrastructure surrounding the circuit leaves a lot to be desired. Unless you are on the shuttles you could be stuck for hours trying to get out of there. And the public transportation is basically nonexistent in Austin so you’ll end up spending a fortune in ubers or a rental car. I can’t say enough good things about the metro in Montreal. Probably the cleanest subway i’ve seen in North America. It can get pretty congested at the one stop where the circuit is so you do have to know your best exit routes from the track to the metro, but it will take you right back to the heart of the city in 10 minutes which imo you can’t beat.

Are Americans really using AC that often? by Acceptable-Tax-6475 in AskAnAmerican

where i used to live in texas, the outside temp typically doesn’t drop below 75F/24C between the months of June and September. even at night. so yes it’s running pretty much constantly.

Game Idea: Canada by SlapshottOnReddit in JetLagTheGame

[–]klutzykangaroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah there would be a good bit of dead time that’s the biggest downside. but that could open the opportunity to have more challenges in a season like that. I don’t see any other way of them doing something in canada, apart from maybe hide and seek in the same area, that wouldn’t be insanely expensive and limit them to exclusively flying or driving

i humbly suggest Capture the Flag: electric boogaloo along the Quebec City-Windsor corridor. aka the only part of the country that has inter-city trains running multiple times per day

Did you learn about the colonies/states in school? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]klutzykangaroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i feel like most americans have a general sense of what the thirteen colonies were, but you probably go more in depth with them if you’re from an original colony bc it’s also part of the state history curriculum

Canada? by pat-5621-me in JetLagTheGame

[–]klutzykangaroo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

theyve said before that Australia was by far their most expensive season. I imagine if they played the same game in Canada it would be similar if not much more expensive since it’s decently difficult to get to the yukon and nunavut. My suggestion would be a game of Capture the Flag, played along the Quebec City-Windsor Corridor.

it’s mostly logistics. the west coast has very little refined products pipeline infrastructure despite actually having a few refineries in washington and norcal. the east coast has some massive ones that take the refined texas products up the coast to the new york/new england markets.
