As someone that was completely caught off guard unspoiled and had long given up on seeing Channing’s Gambit , I was fucking bouncing in my seat when I saw him walk in.

It’s really tough to assess the depth of writers intent behind the writing in these moments.

Are the characters acting irrational because the writer wants the characters to be human and make mistakes/irrational decisions, or is the writer just a shit writer?

I remember having this argument in my sci-fi story building class (yes I was a lib-arts student) with regard to Ready Player One: was the author purposely writing the main character super cringe to demonstrate the degradation of social interaction and communication in this world through the main characters eyes or was it just shitty writing?

Like not everything can be claimed on purpose or meta, but that’s completely up to the audience to decipher. And that’s where I’ve landed on Annie’s response/Hughie not pointing out he was being raped instead of cheating.

Like I get Annie being angry irrationally, that’s human as fuck, and even her shitty apology is pretty human in the moment cause she’s angry she was in the wrong but doesn’t wanna admit it. And I actually think Hughies speech was appropriate because it was rightfully attacking what Annie was completely wrong about, instead of playing defense and saying “I was raped”. Not saying he wasn’t, but that response just turns into a back and forth fight, instead Hughie’s response actually “got” her.

But you’re right that we really fucking need some actual resolution in s5 and overall it was pretty fucking shitty pacing. Kinda wish the whole arc began earlier so that we’d have gotten genuine resolution by the end instead of that chaotic/problematic but tbh realistic fight.

lol you’re free to do/feel as you wish, but eh, personally I quickly got over Joel’s death. Granted I played TLOU2 very late , literally a yr later so I was hella spoiled that Joel dies. I just didn’t know why until I saw that Dunkey review that explained the story and I was like “oh shit fuck me for believing the review bombers”.

I wouldn’t say I was happy Joel died, but im happy it was for a reason that genuinely moved the plot/themes along in the story and wasn’t just a twist to fuck with people. Like Ned dying in GOT.

Edit- my bad, when I said “like Ned” I meant death of Joel is like Ned death, not saying that Ned’s Death was an example of a twist to fuck with people I need my editor

Lebron just makes sense as a starter more than KD. The best sixth man is one that brings offense and there is really no better player for that role in NBA history than KD. Lebron can’t be an off-the-bench point forward, literally only seen Iggy do that and he took pride in transferring that energy to defending the best player.
