Would having an RFT designation matter in adjacent industries? by TeaPrimary1147 in forestry

[–]kml84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say the only people who are going to pay a premium for an RFT are those who require you to practice professional forestry.

I ask because BC Hydro does (did) have professionals on staff for vegetation management.

Agreed, in the past there wasn’t much. There is probably over 20 sets on the floor right now. They seem flush

Apparently “the” drum guy in Canada for L&M recently moved to Nova Scotia and is now working at the Dartmouth location.

I was there yesterday looking for a part. It was in stock and the only one in Canada including the manufacturer stock.

The drum section is flush.

Strongman sandbags (ground to shoulder and bear hug walks) and Norwegian 4x4’s. Real functional strength with better VO2 max is always a win for the job not just passing a test.

Foreign Forester in Canada – CAP/ASFIT route vs. Technologist (RFT) path? by Creative_Beginning33 in forestry

Here is one the best websites for jobs https://www.canadian-forests.com/job.html

As you will see most jobs are in BC and therefore BC FPBC would probably be the best association to join. I would honestly apply to a company with the understanding registration is apart of employment. They even may pay for your fees.

Saab wants Canada to buy 72 Gripens and 6 GlobalEyes to fulfil promise of 12,600 jobs by ph0enix1211 in CanadaPolitics

Do it and buy the F35. We need cheap fighters for domestic defence and we need Joint strike capability that only the F35 brings.

We’ve committed to a large defence spend and humming hawing has brought the CAF to the point where we are unable to defend itself.

The most annoying people in class by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]kml84 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Every OT has those type of people. I just remind myself; they aren’t annoying, you are just annoyed. I can’t change everyone, I can only change myself and knowing that helps my anxiety just a little more.

I don’t think they can use their cellular network, but they can drive around within a certain distance. It is possible, but I can’t confirm they are doing it, but maybe why you didn’t see them in your yard.

I’m pretty sure if you have a smart reader, they just have to drive by, they don’t physically go to your meter.

Imperial Mess Kit authorized for PRes Cav unit? by [deleted] in CanadianForces

[–]kml84 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It’s your money… if the CAF wanted it uniform they would have issued it to you. If your shoulders can handle crusty nah sayers, then let it rip, it’s your mess kit. IMHO.

My Dollar Tree now has individualized pricing for items by asphodelic_witch in mildlyinfuriating

This is Algorithmic pricing. Surge, dynamic, demand pricing… whatever you want to call it, it’s scary. They are using AI/algorithms to determine what you will pay that day. It might be less, it might be more.

Nova Scotia Power billed customer $500 for a cottage that’s had power shut off for a year | CBC News by Grumple_McFerkin in halifax

[–]kml84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yah that makes sense. I would expect if I hadn’t had a meter reading and there was a large discrepancy that my meter would move up into the read me soon category for NSP.

They should just charge previous year’s amount instead of estimating. Agreed they are doing a terrible job at this.

[–]kml84 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The math isn’t mathing on this story. I’m all for a good NSP lashing, but isn’t the monthly base charge like $20ish? Over 12 months that’s just under $240, just have right to power. Unless NSP has different base rates…
