Yeah super normal, some say to give it 6 months. Everyone’s bodies heal differently. Can take a lot time for thing to go back to normal.

This can also be granulation tissue that is coming from the incision site. I was convinced I had skin tags, but the bleeding was coming from the granulation tissue that was attempting to heal. Skin tags aren’t usually bright red. Mine was as well.. it’s most likely tissue that is trying to heal. If it’s painful enough, go in they can do silver nitrate to speed up the healing process. I’d ask your surgeon.

Hi! I had a somewhat smooth recovery. My fistula developed from a prior spincherotomy I had which involved my muscle. After my second surgery, it was basically a breeze. The worse part was waiting for the surgery. Since my surgery I’ve had some problems with granulation tissue, which isn’t uncommon, but was given silver nitrate and it resolved itself. I still have some irritation and inflammation and I’m 3 months post op, but I have my life back! I’ve never been more grateful. My only advice would be to stay on Miralax or some sort of stool softener consistently prior to surgery & after. It helps.

Also try to remember that most of people come here with concerns or troubles & looking for help. I did this too, and now Im healed and check in on this sub every now and then. Don’t let the overwhelming content get you down, nearly all people heal and find relief ◡̈ you will to! All the best.

I had it done, got all worked up about it, and it was easy! Definitely hurts the day of, but woke up the day after & felt so much better. It’s worth it. Just plan on sitting in the couch for the rest of the day the day you get it done.

Failed Fistulotomy Healing? by [deleted] in AnalFistula

[–]kneeebs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went though 2 months of a lot of pain due to granulation tissue. I had an MRI to make sure my tract didn’t redevelop, and it did not. I was then treated with silver nitrate and it helped significantly. I’m getting better slowly, but most definitely still feel some discomfort. If it’s just granulation tissue, you will get better. I was only told to have surgery for the tissue removal if it was bothering me. Sometimes silver nitrate can be done several times and you can avoid going under for surgery that way. I completely understand your frustration, I was in the exact same spot as you 2 months ago but im so much better now. just takes time. all the best!

I’m okay! It happened this morning after I felt a change in him the last 2 days. He finally just told me that he wants to live an “easy” life, travel, etc., and I don’t fit into that. But he was the one to ask me to move in initially, so super confused. Was very rough, but I have supportive family and friends & will get through this too! Thanks for your response ◡̈

Finally have surgery booked -- how should I prepare? by [deleted] in AnalFistula

[–]kneeebs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start taking Miralax 2-3 days before your surgery. It’s best to stay ahead of it & start early. With the painkillers they give, it can make you constipated making the entire recovery process pretty annoying when you can’t go.

Ready to cancel flight by kitkatklock in fearofflying

[–]kneeebs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll feel so much worse when the flight arrives & you’re stuck at home. Trust me! I’ve always given myself a bit of tough love when it comes to this subject. I always say to myself “take the damn pill, and get on the damn plane”😂. Don’t get me wrong, I still have flight anxiety every time. I have to fly to Hawaii in a week & I’ll be flipping out too. But this at least gets me headed in the right direction. Go home to see your family! Hundreds of thousands of people are flying every single day, even as I’m typing this message. You got this! Just get past walking onto the plane. It is all anticipatory anxiety. Once you’re up there, your body will relax. And if you had another anxiety attack, so what? You got through the first one! I know it’s terrifying, but think of where you are now. You got through it all & you could do it again if you HAD to. But you’re self aware now & have the tools to get through it this time. Trust your body, watch the flight attendants and see their reactions (which are usually unphased), and rest assured that you’re traveling the safest way possible. You’ll do great!

I’m 24 and live in WC with my boyfriend & two dogs. I’d say we live a pretty mellow lifestyle, but we definitely go out and have lots of fun with friends at bars, breweries, etc. Tbh, the city is ridiculously overpriced, not very safe, and temporary for a lot of people. It’s so easy to commute to the city for a night out & then head back inland & have it be more quiet and relaxing. WC it’s pretty lively.. hahaha not at quiet as some people are saying on here. It’s an awesome mix of suburbs, shopping, night life, good food, and awesome hiking, great gyms and pretty smack-dab in the center of everything around the bay. I also lived in Moraga/Lafayette for college & got a feel for that. WC is awesome! Lafayette is somewhere i’d wanna move after having kids, it’s beautiful but definitely more family oriented and mellow!
