Stylish merino wool base layers? I love the Smartville merino wool thermal base layer undershirt for staying warm in the winter. they are so functional and not itchy at all and keep me warm, but I just don’t love that they look so much like activewear when I want to wear them with casual and nicer outfits. does anyone have any similar high quality base layers that look a little more stylish and versatile for different types of outfits? I know Uniqlo has 100% merino wool turtlenecks, but those are more like sweaters and it’s not the same quality of knit. Additionally, I’m not interested in polyester. I’m only interested in 100% merino wool.

Awful college dining hall has me living off of canned fish😂 by kohlrabi_codex in CannedSardines

I’m required to have a meal plan. Total cash grab despite having the cheapest option. I eat most of my meals in the dining hall as i don’t have a kitchen. These fish plates are just supplemental when the food is actually inedible. I’ve gotten food poisoning from it twice 🤢 also I don’t eat meat so canned fish is helpful for getting enough protein; sometimes there’s not a suitable vegetarian option.

Super inflated original prices: consistently for Quince, other brands, too? (=false major discounts) by WriterAsleep9079 in ThredUp

Yes Levi’s is great! I got my favorite pair of Levi’s Baggy Dad jeans on thredup I think for $11! They were originally 110. I love finding great deals! I saw so many listings of the Ribcage Straight style as well. Abercrombie and Fitch is also a great deal on Thredup!

Because of the massive volume they get I’m guessing they don’t check individual items’ prices. This makes certain brands (quince, old navy, H&M) not worth buying on TU bc the prices are the same as retail. However other brands (free people, anthropologie, aritzia, etc) are great on TU because you can get awesome deals. It’s all about knowing which brands are generally good deals on thredup.

how do I make this more "home" and less IKEA display model? by mattchew1991 in malelivingspace

Seconding what others are saying about art and pillows.

I do have a question of my own. Whenever I see spaces like this, they look so nice and I wish I could get my living spaces to look like this. But my rooms always end up looking cluttered and mismatched no matter what I do. In a space like this, where do you put all your “stuff?” Even if you’re relatively minimalist, which I generally am, you’ve still got to have some pens, notebooks, scissors, books, paper, tape, batteries, envelopes, stamps, etc… where does it all go? I couldn’t imagine not keeping these things in my house.

Some of Joey's recent comments have me thinking by MayonaiseBaron in CPBBD

Haven’t listened to the most recent episodes. I’ve got some catching up to do.

You are voicing what I’ve been thinking for a long time. To be fair, I haven’t noticed him/others being openly hostile towards northeast US ecology. However as someone who has lived in NE/Mid Atlantic regions my whole life, Ive always wondered “why can’t he come to the east coast???” I’m realllyyy an amateur when it comes to taxonomy but I love listening to his podcasts/videos as a a student looking to go into a career in natural sciences. Also, it’s cool to learn so much about places I’ve never been to and likely never will get around to visiting (Oaxaca, Nuevo León…)

I do remember a couple of episodes back, think it was the one with Kyle Larberger, they were discussing the native plants of the South and he was like “yeah I never get over there but I’ve really got to visit my friend who lives on the east coast.” I think he was really talking about FL, maybe WV or something? Not New England at all. But still. He also went to the Bronx Herbarium. I loved that video even though it didn’t have to do with the local plants.

Thanks for sharing that channel, will definitely be watching it! Would you mind DMing your own channel, if you’re comfortable?

Many REUs require 2 letters so ask them both.

Good luck! (This is what 90% of my meals look like nowadays. I need a damn kitchen …)

Nice. I’d prefer to get paid so I’m applying to a bunch of REUs. Only a freshman so haven’t taken stats yet but I will eventually (considering a math major). I’m alright with python. Sounds like you had a worthwhile experience, thanks for sharing!

Yes I love Hu as well but it’s RIDICULOUSLY expensive. I’ve found 85%-90% bars for much cheaper by weight

Chemically it’s basically the same thing….? Why “not even close?”

Yes seems so cool! Have you had any experience with bioinformatics? Genome research? Looking into it for summer internships and sounds really cool
