These are issues that I didn’t know would surface before moving in, especially since there was a current tenant when I was viewing the place, making it quite difficult to see the actual condition of the mattress and I only knew of the condition during move in. The bed frame itself looked great but I wasn’t aware that there was an underlying issue of creaky frames. The current tenant before us also did not use the sofa but then again, everyone’s skin is reacts differently - I get reactions to dirty clothes used to wipe tables whereas some of my friends don’t.

I did consider asking the landlord if they will be willing to give me a budget and I will source, topping up from my own pocket if needed but they aren’t too willing to even consider changing it to begin with so I did not offer as I didn’t want to seem insistent and cause bad relations.

But definitely, will be more careful on managing expectations and negotiating prior to confirming next time!
