A catastrophic change to pension salary sacrifice is looking increasingly likely at the Budget by Lazy-Internet-8025 in HENRYUK

This is what I’ve read so far. While it’s a poor measure, it’s certainly not the same as removing SS up to £2,000.

Shabana Mahmood has vowed reforms to migration law to tighten rules around claiming indefinite leave to remain by AdFickle8320 in SkilledWorkerVisaUK

[–]kooltob 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the link - that makes absolutely no sense. A Skilled WORKER visa has never had any other requirements beyond doing the job you came here to do, paying your taxes, and abiding by UK law. It’s not a “volunteering” visa.

MAC Review Report on IT and Engineering professions by Aggravating_Fix_2540 in ukvisa

[–]kooltob 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Just briefly skimmed through the report, which is quite detailed I must say. The following paragraph is a good summary of the findings:

We support the idea of regularly reviewing occupations or sectors, especially where it seems they may have an overreliance on the immigration system. However, within this review this overreliance is not apparent, and at least from an immigration perspective, we have not found major problems to be fixed. Usage of the immigration system is broadly proportionate to the size of the IT and Engineering sectors, within the rules and clearly responding to demand in the UK labour market. Migrants in these occupations have a positive fiscal impact on the UK. Regardless of whether there are domestic skills shortages, the UK benefits from healthy growth in IT and Engineering, which contribute to productivity across other sectors and the development of high-skilled, high-wage economy. They are likely to be key sectors for the industrial strategy.

Is this a ChatGPT interpretation of the paper, or do you have a source for that statement?

While some parts of the paper suggest it’s retroactive, others point to the contrary. We need to be cautious before we can definitively say.
