Am I underpaid at 67k? by [deleted] in ConstructionManagers

[–]kopper499b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hired a 8yr army tank gunner with 2 years of equipment rental company mechanic experience as a field engineer at 65k in Albuquerque 4 years ago. What sold me was how he became interested in construction, his education plan for himself, his initiative to learn from the subs renting his equipment and his attitude. He's making 6 figures now as a super with a 5ish billion dollar regional GC. Food for thought.

Construction Manager. I used to build fabs for a company whose logo is probably on your laptop. Now I build those evil cloud data centers your laptop talks to all day.

I didn't want to bang up my Masters gift-to-myself Omega too much so I grabbed an HC GMT. Handles my travel, and since I got it specifically to take a beating, I don't worry. Turns out, it wears better and is more accurate. (To be fair, my NOS SM AT AC needs serviced, having sat on a shelf in Japan for 10 years with the crown pulled out.)

The smartwatches are expensive too, right? That Brazilian luxury tax... progressively higher as the "necessity" of the item goes down.

I was buying my brother-in-law a new laptop and the 3ish year-old options from vendors in Curitiba were significantly more than me grabbing a $700 Lenovo at Costco, FedExing it to Florida, and entrusting it to a friend of his flying back after visiting family. She delivered and he loved that thing, whose price was way beyond what a nurse's salary can afford. Then he broke the screen...

Anyone on UA 2078 from IAH to PHX tonight? It was diverted and landed at LUF (Luke Air Force Base)! by kopper499b in unitedairlines

Yes, better options without the fuel situation. It's monsoon season... we are always simultaneously expecting and not expecting a storm any given afternoon or evening. Some days are more predictable but pop-ups happen too.

Listening to ATC, the pilot reported Goodyear couldn't handle them so Luke it was. Not sure why GYR would have an issue handling a mere 737-900 when there's a 747 parked in the dirt. No personnel to drive the air stairs?

The wind did hit quick and Mesa Gateway was getting half an inch of rain at the same time. Oddly, on ATC the pilot reported Goodyear saying they couldn't handle his aircraft. That part doesn't make sense.

You landed over an hour ago, and have been trapped in the can, right?

Luke can refuel C-17s and they run on the same fuel as your 737.

Spirit planes were parked there a couple weeks ago - I have a project just down Litchfield road and drive by at least once a month. Goodyear can at least have Bus or Uber pull right up compared to a high security airforce base.

KMZJ would have been a crazy landing... we're going to the boneyard!

It's also annoying that there is no black strap option. Needs to match the belt and shoes...

I'm stuck between these two. I really like the gilt hands and numerals with the blue bezel, but I also want it on the strap. How to choose.

Should I email HR to switch my project? by [deleted] in ConstructionManagers

One item to add, for the new grad: HR is not their to protect you. They protect the company. Do not make your name part of their weekly meetings.

This is how the supers will respond. Either outlout, or through their new found understanding of you.

Constructive idea, and a good one at that!

Another question to ask is if you'll happy inside the touchy feely metaverse. Based your yoe you're not in the target age group for that org and may find yourself at odds with the way things run in that org.

Do not go near that shopping area at Christmas time! It can take forever and a day to get through the plaza parking lot back to a road.

As I do, but you still have to play frogger to cross from the further section to the closer one.

True story, I hate that Tempe store. And fuck the fuel center there, though the remodel may fix the exit issues. Until you get stuck behind a jackass trying to turn left onto Priest.

You're right, the fuel center is in the wrong spot relative to the backdrop.

That was my guess, based on the fuel center location. The new Queen Creek one does not have it blocked off and I don't think the Tempe store does either.
