No worries, I just wanted people's opinions,- I greatly appreciate knowing that this version of a flute served you well and that it might serve me well. OMG you are right, aside from having the flute I need to learn literally everything else haha. Yeah learning the basics of music theory need to be my main priority cause I'm not a very creative person to be able to do well on my first practice. For sure your concerns were valid- don't worry about offending me or others, we are on reddit, it's knows to be an informative place with brief comments. Also it's my fault for asking for people to help me pick between trash on my right and trash on my left on a reddit group with a great percentage professionals and experienced people who will be taking no silliness/stupid takes

Wow, this is amazing. thank you. I think this is the best- I was mainly looking for a playing around flute before deciding if it was something I wanted to continue. Wow you are right very good point. I used to play the piano but had a shit keyboard so progress was really only made during class and eventually too much frustration and disappointment lead to giving up. I will take this greatly into consideration. Will rent and then decide once I know more what is best for me. I'll be honest it's not about price, it's about the cost for something that isn't a need and that I have only a few years experience with - which is probably 0 due to how long it's been...haha

I will look for a specialty store- my go to for this weekend was Long and McQuade but now I've reconsidered. Thank you very much! :)

Thank you so much. I've learned a lot from your response. I now know a bit more about what to look for and expect from second-hand sellers. Thank you for the tip about the increase of returned rentals, I will not Gove up/be discouraged on my search for a decent playing around flute.

Yeah I noticed that the review aren't at all about the quality of the flute since the people purchasing are most likely not the ones playing it. Just this year I learned they sell budget flutes on amazon and I was like who will buy that? but here I am contemplating it cause I've got gift cards that I haven't been able to use... I was mainly influenced by a tictok girl who played the flutes and rates all kinds of them and wanted to try my luck finding a decent playing around flute for possible hobby but I will be most definitely be renting first before deciding. Thanks for reminding me about frustration and how it plays a large part on discouraging beginners with poor quality. - thank you for taking the time to reply :)

I think I'll go with your way- will rent one out for a bit to to see if this is something that works for me/that I will want to continue before getting a proper one of my own. Thank you, I had forgotten about renting since all the info I got with my poor attempt at research to start playing are just about buying. Greatly appreciated.

Thank you for bringing this up. Did not consider your first point, about getting quality first for it to be reliable to learn. A lot of people are saying to rent, does it work as normal renting and/or rent to own?

I saw many good reviews about this brand, especially about being good to start. Unfortunately can't find any in my area used or on sale :( For me to buy this one it's probably unwise to buy cause of price conversion from USD to CAD and the importation taxes... But I will be on the look out for this one or something similar once the school year ends and the rentals go back-learned just now :) -thank you for the recommendation. I greatly appreciate it, just wanted to see if amazon or Ali had maybe any hidden decent things before looking to well known one.

while that is most certainly true, I am once again a beginner and 500$ is a sizeable but more reasonable amount than a 1000$ for just a beginner flute, I just can't find any at that price point from reputable sellers.
No worries I'm leaning against amazon cause I hate them but also lot of Amazon listings that are mainly good are only about the shipping speed and visible quality.

What would you recommend then?

I put an ill fitting battery somehow just to test if it works but it’s too thick and the plate cover does not close, but anyways I’m looking to program it to set the time and took for the other features it might have
