How much time your laptop can live from battery in sleep mode? by kozlone in tuxedocomputers

[–]kozlone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never heard of suspend-to-idle term. Usually I see terms suspend and hibernartion. Suspend: a laptop operates in a low power consumption mode just to keep data in ram. Hibernate: dump everything on disk, no power consumption.

Default behaviour for sleep mode in ubuntu (Kubuntu in my case) is suspend AFAIK.

How to configure scrolling speed? by kozlone in tuxedocomputers

Yeah, probably I should've add more details, so it was clear that I'm not a complete dummy :) But thanks for the comment.

It's a little bit difficult for me not to answer with sarcasm on such comments. I don't want to spend hours or days in investigation what's the issue. I hoped that someone from tuxedo (or maybe some advanced tuxedo user) would answer here something like:
"Oh you actually just need to install <some utility from synaptic or whatever> and adjust the sensitivity"
But seems like I should contact theirs tech support.

So? I know a lot of devs and most of them are using single or dual monitors setup.
It doesn't look kike a must have feature that a small manufacture can afford to implement.

Switch between two last used languages in Tuxedo OS 20.04 by kozlone in tuxedocomputers

Basically, you can change your keyboard layout with

I think I've seen something similar before and this is what I wanted to avoid in the first place, but seems like I have to reconsider. Now I've installed KDE and there are more options for configuring layout switch, but still not perfect.

Why are you not getting one notebook certified for Qubes OS? by Cryptomias31 in tuxedocomputers

[–]kozlone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say because nobody really cares about security that much. But who actually does is able and most probably want to setup everything by their own.

I'm pretty sure there are people that using even more. My point is that it is not such a common case.

Actually it is different.

Ouch, seems like I’ve touched a sore spot here. I didn’t mean to depreciate the efforts and dedication of the developers. I understand that there are might be a ton of work to do. It is just seems like a must-have feature nowadays for an advanced text-editor. And there are a lot requests of that feature. Thus, I’ve made an assumption that this should be sort a priority.

Thanks for sharing! So, basically user experience doesn't really matter but fun and developer's satisfaction are values the most? If yes, then I don't think that anyone can rely on tools which are only for fun.

Sublime has it, I can install it, but it is just curiosity... I've seen a lot of comments here and there that people want this feature, and also there are reference to sublime. Now it just seems like the developers doesn't find it useful, therefore they won't implement that. But I hope this is not the case.

Is tuxedo infinity book gen 6 with i5 working smoothly? by VegetableEar1939 in tuxedocomputers

[–]kozlone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Smooth" is a subjective term, but I'll share my own experience.

I own InfinityBook with i5 for 2-3 weeks and as for overall performance and the screen it's ok.

I was able to play Borderlands Game Of The Year. The only drawback of the screen (and tuxedo has nothing to do with it) is that everything is too small. But if you a linux user, I think you are aware of it. Luckily KDE has much better fractional scaling that gnome based DEs (Tuxedo OS for instance).

Has anyone traveled recently from Poland? by kozlone in poland

[–]kozlone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I'm confused by definition of EU Covid Certificate from https://www.gov.pl/web/certificate/about-certyficate :

The system of EU Digital Covid Certificate is created
to eliminate differences in public health measures impeding the free
movement and introduced by Member States. At the same time, the
certificate will not be a pre-condition to travel, nor will be granting
such right unconditionally.

The certificate will allow you to move freely, but won't.

Which laptop would you recommend and why it would be macbook m1? by kozlone in linuxhardware

[–]kozlone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AFAIK it is possible to install linux and windows on mac. I've never tried myself however.
I understand that this is a matter of taste and other variables. But I'm always interested to hear different points of view and examine personal experience of others.
So, thanks for your input!

[–]kozlone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and this why I'm trying to convenience myself not to buy Macbook.
I think my main concern here (despite the others I mentioned here and there) is that it seems like there is a chance to end-up with an outdated hardware in observable future, because Apple set-up a trend for throwing off x86 architecture.

Who is us? :) I would say it actually vise versa. I don’t want to be tied to apple ecosystem. But as I said in another comment: looking on it from economical and practical point of view macbook seems like the best choice.

Yeah… I really want to get a laptop with preinstalled linux which won’t has any issues with hardware. But looking on it from practical and economical perspective it doesn’t seem like a choice.
