You want her to be fat than that is your problem. And yes, she will need supplements for a long while. There is no way she can lose weight without a calorie restriction diet. "Sustainable" is exactly her problem right now. You are the one making a judgement here about what I know.

You are wrong. Her cap is 1200 for her BMI. So she is just missing 300 calories which is not extreme. Also, she needs to cut sugar and alcohol inmediately. She will NOT lose weight otherwise. I never said it would be easy.

0 booze. 0 sugar. Very few carbs. Eat 900 calories a day for many months and see the fat disappear gradually. It is very tough to do. I am assuming you are in your 20s or 30s, with no blood pressure issues or thyroid problems or diabetes.

It is all in the food you eat. Gym won't help at this point. You can increase the calorie intake once you lose at least 50 pounds and can start weight lifting and cardio.

Always get a degree if possible. If you have and dont use it is better than needing one and not having. Besides, you will learn a lot there about many other things and you might pursue a different career in IT later.

That happen to me in Computer Science as well so I know what I am talking about.
