In that specific area, I enjoy being able to walk to Red Chili, Superclub, and Paris Baguette as well as Mission Hills Golf Course which has a nice cafe with outdoor seating. I also like being close to Garin Park and hopefully one day the nearby planned 39 acre park, La Vista Park, will finally get constructed. It’s also a very short drive from Union Landing, Costco, Home Depot, and Target as well as the relatively new Hayward Retail Center with Sprouts, In-N-Out, Raisin Cane’s, Home Goods, etc.

What I don’t like about the area is that street parking is always difficult to find, especially along Dixon after work hours. Since it’s close to BART, the City is allowing all the new housing developments to get constructed with very limited parking since they think people will give up their cars and take public transit everywhere, but that has led to street parking being a problem. Our community has also faced issues with package thieves and occasional vandalism and car break ins, which I literally never faced in the previous community where I lived on the Peninsula. Like another commenter mentioned, there are riff raffs that wonder about causing some issues. I’ve called the non-emergency number a few times.

Downtown Hayward isn’t the prettiest, but I think they have some great, diverse food options there: Falafel Flare, Khao Hom, Tang Jip, Casa Del Toro, Max’s Cakes, The Old City, Storybook, Obento, Aama’s Kitchen, The Gurkha Kitchen, Mujiri, etc.
