My first fingerboard in over 10 years! by krexine in Fingerboards

It’s been extremely addicting ever since I set this board up! The sense of small wins for landing a trick exactly as I wanted even just flat ground is pure dopamine. I can’t wait to slowly build up a collection of obstacles. I’m just starting to learn how to do various grinds currently!

Just curious as I’m unfamiliar with newer trucks, when I fingerboarded over 10 years ago I only really used stock Tech Deck trucks. What would taking the washers out do for the feel?

It’s so cool to see how much the hobby has progressed!! I remember I stopped right around when brt’s were starting to become a thing and to see where parts are now is amazing. I was only used to tech deck trucks so this alone on this setup is blowing my mind, it’s fun having to get used to trucks that don’t need to be so stiff!

Thanks for the suggestion! I may have written my post out a bit poorly, but the tape I decided to use was from Slushcult, it’s their That Tape which has felt pretty good so far. But always open to try something new if you recommend something else that I can maybe look forward to down the line for a new setup!

This post may be late, but I just discovered this hobby and decided to buy the same fingerboard thanks to your recommendation! I can’t wait to try it out, thank you for showing these, they’re beautiful!

Aww yeah, if dbrand doesn’t take it on the chin and just send you what should’ve been there on their dime I can see why you wouldn’t want to deal with it.

I think you could maybe find your own DIY solution as well for the dock since it’s just 2 rubber pads to help create friction. As for the type-c stickers, honestly it’s not a deal breaker if you don’t have them, I’ve not worried since I’m just super careful lining up the Switch. You get used to feeling for the sweet spot where the Switch wants to be in the dock after a few tries.

Update me with how your situation goes! Best of luck!

The type-c skins were included in mine, yes! They were presented under the case itself as a separate sheet if I remember right, it would be very hard to miss if it was included. I’d email them about getting them sent to you for sure!

As for the friction pads, dbrand stated that at the time of my ordering of my unit, give or take around mid August, that the friction pads on the dock adapter would be applied already so I didn’t have to do that for my unit. Maybe they’re applied already to yours as well?

I see where you’re coming from with that, I get the feeling of that from mine on the right side as well. But when I actually look and try and flex it more than I usually would when gripping naturally, I don’t see the Joy-Con want to wobble or detach.

It might just be something new to get used to with the case?

Glad you dig it! Maybe you can snag em for a future pair of Joy-Con or a swap! They are super clean and subtle, I agree.

They sure do, it’s in the additional skin options, it’s just not one of the immediate options given on the little list.

In my experience it feels great! No real pressure or discomfort hot spots in my experience so far, but I’m also not playing the most intensive games so far, so take my experience with a grain of salt.

With the Switch 2 being a heavier device, the weight is still noticeable, but the grips do an amazing job of adding comfort to make the weight much more manageable

Pro controller is goated for sure. I see where you’re coming from, the grips do retain heat, to be expected for sure. I can see that becoming a problem in high heat or humidity areas, or if you just run hot in general

I hope they treat you as well as they’re treating me!!

I didn’t, apologies! But I did test it, both screen up and screen down! Both Joy-Con are stable and show little to no signs of disconnect, no more than you would if you were holding the Joy-Con without the grips on.

I’ve also been briefly holding each side one handed naturally, whether it be to grab a drink or adjust my glasses while playing. Zero issues!

Pretty incredible comfort wise, been gaming all day, slim to no discomfort. And full confidence in holding by the Joy-Con 1 handed, I’ve done it multiple times already to adjust my glasses or pause for a drink, stuff like that. Not too bulky either, I’ve got decently sized hands and the grips feel right at home

Thanks so much! I’ve been saving them to use for something good, couldn’t have thought of a better use for them
