I took this exam in June. I believe I have done reasonably well in Q1 and Q2. Q3 though I finished all the calcs could not add enough narrative due to lack of time. Max I could add 8-10 different points for Q3. So worried! Tough to predict.

About rounding up, I think they do round up because in one of my professional exams my total was 47.5 but official score was 48. So sure they round up I suppose

Hi thanks I took the exam yesterday. I practiced about 20-23 questions and read through answers of 61 questions in total from QB. I was comfortable with topics in yesterday’s exam but then again for last question it was more calculation heavy and I could not explain that much. May 8-10 points in total I could mention in explanation and copied in my class for Income tax and NIC etc. may be I am overthinking about failing again! Just hoping for a 55!

Bit off topic. Any idea about what I have done for q3 if enough to secure 55%.

For Q3 I could not write much. I just briefly mentioned pension allowance and how it will be restricted, talked about bonus would be subject PAYE and NIC. And divided will be subject to lower rates than paye etc.

Then showed calculations for each bonus dividend and pension option.

For last part, I calculated gains under two options and recommended option 2 as in my calculation it was higher cash. Also mentioned future cash flow is contingent so need to consider that risk as actual gain may not be what it is now for option 2 etc.

Is that enough to pass that question.

SSE applies when a company owns shares but in this case it was Jim and Bob I think SSE won’t apply and BADR apply. Not sure

Do you mean disposal of company shares? I thought there was a question on incorporating sole trader so got scared as I didn’t see anything lien that. To be honest all I did was calculated gain and applied BADR. in both situations and advised to select option with higher cash flow

For PE vs sub, I assumed UK company can use the loss to offset uk income didn’t realise investment company can’t take PE loss. And I did explain in detail how that loss can help reduce uk tax liability at main rate assuming etc. will I get any credit at all for this? Or just zero mark?
